Loneliness and quality of life after head and neck cancer
Loneliness is associated with a poor quality of life, mental illness, poor physical health, and premature mortality. Patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) are at risk of loneliness because of the effects of the disease and its treatment on important social interactive functions such as appearance, speech, facial expression, and eating. Patients treated for primary squamous cell HNC between January 2015 and December 2016 were surveyed in early 2019 using the University of Washington quality of life questionnaire version 4, the Cancer-related Loneliness Assessment Tool (C-LAT), and four nationally recommended indicator questions.

Abstract B72: HPV knowledge and screening among gay men of color in South Florida
Conclusion: Similar to past research, HIV-infected gay and bisexual men reported willingness to screen for anal cancer, and they requested more widely communicated information about the risk for anal cancer and the need to screen. Future intervention work should use a community-based approach to raise awareness about SCCA among HIV-infected gay and bisexual men. Further, it is critical to ensure that both HIV primary care providers as well as general primary care providers promote HSIL screening, particularly among HIV-infected gay and bisexual men to prevent the development of anal cancer.Citation Format: Alexis Koskan, N...

Conditional Survival in Anal Carcinoma Using the National Population-Based Survey of Epidemiology and End Results Database (1988–2012)
CONCLUSIONS: Conditional survival showed improvement over time. Patients with advanced stage had the greatest improvement in conditional survival. This is the first study to provide specific conditional survival probabilities for patients with anal cancer.

Comorbidity Assessment in Patients With Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Can Imaging Techniques (Fludeoxyglucose Positron-Emission Tomographic Computed Tomography and Contrast-Enhanced Computed tomography) Provide Additional Information?
This study evaluated the role of imaging staging examinations (positron-emission tomographic computed tomography [PET/CT] and contrast-enhanced computed tomography [ceCT]) for the assessment of the comorbidity status of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). A binary null hypothesis was drafted: 1) imaging staging examinations do not augment knowledge about the comorbidity status of patients with OSCC and 2) there is no difference between PET/CT and ceCT in this regard.

Oral verrucous carcinoma in a 10-year old female: a case report and review of the literature
Oral verrucous carcinoma (VC) is an uncommon variant of squamous cell carcinoma and represents 3-4% of all carcinoma. VC was described by Ackerman in 1948 and it occurs in older males in the fifth-seventh decades of life. VC is exceedingly rare in young adults and children. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), however, has been reported in patients younger than 40 and accounts for about 4-6% of such cases. Here, we present a rare case of VC in a 10-year-old female, making this is the first report of VC in a child.

Effect of postoperative radiotherapy in pT1pN1cM0 and pT2p/cN0cM0 oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma
ConclusionsIn terms of disease‐free survival, patients with p16‐negative tumors may benefit from postoperative radiotherapy, whereas survival of p16‐positive patients is good regardless of additional treatment. Level of Evidence4 Laryngoscope, 2017

A Poorly Differentiated Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Maxilla Extending to the Palate and Orbit: A Case Report
A 67-year-old man presented to a reference medical-surgical service with an extensive tumor in the left maxilla, extending to the hard palate and infiltrating the floor of the orbit at about 5  cm. Maxillectomy was performed, whereby the lesion was completely removed. The histopathologic examination revealed a malignant neoplasm of ectodermal origin, with hyperplastic cells and nuclear and cellular pleomorphism, hyperchromatism, and atypical mitoses. A small amount of keratin was observ ed. The margins were compromised, and there were vascular invasion, areas of necrosis, and infiltration to the bone tissue.

The combinational application of photodynamic therapy and nanotechnology in skin cancer treatment: A review
Tissue Cell. 2022 Jun 15;77:101856. doi: 10.1016/j.tice.2022.101856. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSkin cancer is considered a risky worldwide disease. Traditional treatments have several weaknesses, necessitating the creation of more effective treatments. In this case, photodynamic therapy and nanotechnology were used to demonstrate their therapeutic efficacy as combinational approaches in treating different types of skin cancer. In this review, we will discuss the photoexcitation mechanism of PDT, its cell destruction capability, and give a comprehensive outlook of the different photosensitizer types. Also, light sources...
