Fertility awareness online: the efficacy of a fertility education website in increasing knowledge and changing fertility beliefs
STUDY QUESTION How effective is online education in increasing knowledge of fertility and assisted reproductive technologies (ART), and changing beliefs about the timing of parenthood? Is LGBT progress seen as an attack on Christians?: Examining Christian/sexual orientation zero-sum beliefs
J Pers Soc Psychol. 2021 Jul 1. doi: 10.1037/pspi0000363. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAs social policies have changed to grant more rights to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals, some Christians in the United States have suggested that LGBT rights impede Christians' religious freedom. Across five studies, we examined the causes and consequences of zero-sum beliefs (ZSBs) about Christians and LGBT individuals. We demonstrate that Christians' beliefs about conflict with sexual minorities are shaped by their understandings of Christian values, social change, interpretation of the Bible, and in respons...

Medication self-management in predominantly African American and Caribbean American people with epilepsy: The role of medication beliefs and epilepsy knowledge
CONCLUSIONS: In these PWE, the most prevalent reasons for suboptimal medication self-management were behaviorally mediated and potentially modifiable. Negative medication beliefs and misconceptions about epilepsy and its treatment were common. Results further suggest that interventions addressing negative medication beliefs will be more effective than knowledge-based psychoeducation alone to improve medication self-management in this patient population.PMID:37544193 | DOI:10.1016/j.yebeh.2023.109313

Katherine Conigrave COVID-19 poses grave challenges for mass gatherings. One of the world’s largest annual gatherings, Arbaeen, occurs in Iraq. We studied respiratory symptoms and risk and protective factors using representative sampling of Arbaeen pilgrims in 2019 to inform prevention of COVID-19 transmission. Structured sampling was used to recruit walking pilgrims. A questionnaire asked about respiratory symptoms, risk, and preventive factors, including hygiene-related resources of toilet facilities.
