Sedimentation rates and age modeling of Late Quaternary marine sediments with unsupported 230 Th
This study aimed at establishing and validating a mathematical model that evaluates sedimentation rates and age modeling based on 230Th data retrieved from a sediment core sampled in the southeastern Brazilian continental margin. The validation of the age modeling of this method was made through a statistical comparison between its results and those of benthic foraminifera δ 18O record technique, widely used for sediment dating and determination of sedimentation rates. It was observed that the model of unsupported 230Th was successful in determining Late Quaternary sedimentation rates and ages in a confidence le...

Ultrasound-assisted electrodeposition of Ni and Ni-Mo coatings from a citrate-ammonia electrolyte solution
Publication date: 5 December 2017 Source:Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Volume 726 Author(s): Agnieszka Bigos, Ewa Beltowska-Lehman, Eva García-Lecina, Magdalena Bieda, Maciej Jakub Szczerba, Jerzy Morgiel The effect of ultrasound (US) agitation (at different intensities of US from 0 to 40 Wcm−2) on the electrodeposition of Ni-Mo and Ni (as reference) coatings from an aqueous complex citrate–ammonia electrolyte was investigated. Increased US intensity has a meaningful influence on Mo content in Ni-Mo alloys, which vary from about 14.5 wt% to 19.5 wt%. Enrichment of alloys in Mo resulted in the refinement of the m...

Laser nitriding and fusion of bonding porcelain coating on Ti surface
Publication date: 10 March 2019Source: Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Volume 777Author(s): Wenhao Wang, Beijing Xue, Litong Guo, Yu Fan, Baoe Li, Yihan Ling, Yinghuai QiangAbstractThe titanium surface was laser-nitrided to form a TiN intermediate layer and then a bonding porcelain layer was laser fused on it. The specimens were studied by XRD, FE-SEM and EDS tests. A porous titanium nitride layer about 20 μm was synthesized on Ti surface, and the main phases of which were c-TiN and TiN0.3. The Vickers hardness of the TiN layer was 618.68 HV, which is about 3 times of the titanium (202.9 HV). The EDS results showed the...

Soft magnetic properties and giant magnetoimpedance effect in thermally annealed amorphous Co68Fe4Cr3Si15B10 alloy ribbons
Publication date: 25 July 2015 Source:Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Volume 638 Author(s): Wei Lu , Yewen Xu , Jindan Shi , Yiming Song , Xiang Li Giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect in amorphous soft magnetic materials has been intensively investigated owing to its promising technological applications. The GMI effect can be improved when an amorphous ferromagnetic material is subjected to proper heat treatments. In present work, in order to further improve the GMI effect in amorphous Co68Fe4Cr3Si15B10 ribbons, thermal annealing is employed to optimize the GMI effect of amorphous Co68Fe4Cr3Si15B10 ribbons. Magnetic mea...

Physical and chemical characterization of cerium(IV) oxide nanoparticles.
Abstract Chemical composition, size and structure of the nanoparticle are required to describe nanoceria. Nanoparticles of similar size and Ce(III) content might exhibit different chemical behaviour due to their differences in structure. A simple and direct procedure based on affordable techniques for all the laboratories is presented in this paper. The combination of Raman and UV-vis spectroscopy and particle impact coulometry (PIC) allows the characterization of nanoceria of small size from 4 to 65 nm at a concentration from micromolar to nanomolar, a concentration range suitable for the analysis of lab-prepare...

Evolution of the microstructure and microhardness of a new wrought Ni–Fe based superalloy during high temperature aging
Publication date: 25 September 2015 Source:Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Volume 644 Author(s): Xinbao Zhao , Yingying Dang , Hongfei Yin , Yong Yuan , Jintao Lu , Zhen Yang , Yuefeng Gu The changes of the microstructure and microhardness of a new wrought Ni–Fe based superalloy with γ/γ′ two-phase structure were investigated during high temperature aging at 750°C up to 3000h. It was found that γ′ particles grew into large ones with spherical morphology and the growth rate was consistent with the LSW model. No other detrimental phases were observed besides small blocky type Cr-rich M23C6 carbides existed aroun...

Effect of resonance dipole-dipole interaction on the infrared spectra of adsorbed CF4. Experimental investigation and theoretical modeling
Publication date: 1 March 2018 Source:Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry, Volume 354 Author(s): Anna N. Dobrotvorskaia, Alevtina V. Gatilova, Petr D. Murzin, Aida V. Rudakova, Dmitriy N. Shchepkin, Alexey A. Tsyganenko Adsorption of CF4 on ZnO has been studied by means of FTIR spectroscopy at 55–300K. The contour of the band of the ν 3 vibration in the spectra obtained is shown to depend crucially on surface coverage, due to strong resonance dipole-dipole interaction in the layer of adsorbed molecules. At high surface coverage the band is split into two components at 1320 and 1245cm−1, about 75cm...

A home-made sampling system coupled to hectowatt-MPT mass spectrometry in positive ion mode to confirm target ions of copper and zinc from Poyang Lake, China
Anal Bioanal Chem. 2022 Jun 22. doi: 10.1007/s00216-022-04172-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA novel home-made H2SO4-Nafion (HN) tube sampling system coupled to a line ion trap mass spectrometer (LTQ-MS) with a versatile ambient ionization source, hectowatt microwave plasma torch (HMPT), has manifested unique advantages for picking directly metal elements in aqueous samples and acquiring the fully characteristic MPT mass spectra of copper and zinc composite ions. Here, we report the development of a novel HN-HMPT-LTQ-MS for metal elements assay based on environmental water to analyze samples of Poyang Lake, China. Detail...

Publication date: 15 January 2019Source: Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Volume 771Author(s): Fuping Li, Zhuoli Xu, Kang Zhao, Yufei TangAbstractZrB2-ZrC composite nanofibers were fabricated by electrospinning and carbothermal reduction. The morphology, phase composition and interface were characterized. The fabricated ZrB2-ZrC composite nanofibers are uniform and the diameter is about 100 nm. The effects of heat-treatment temperature, n(B)/n(Zr) and n(C)/n(Zr) on the microstructure and phase composition of composite nanofibers were systematically investigated. The results shows heat-treatment temperature has influence ...

Preparation, stabilization and CHARACTERIZATION of 3-(Methacryloyloxy) propyl trimethoxy silane modified colloidal nanosilica particles
In this study, homogeneous distribution of colloidal silica nanoparticles (CSPs) was performed by modifying and stabilizing CSPs in an organic solvent at neutral pH. The surface modified CSPs were synthesized by Stöber method in methanol, followed by modifying with different contents of 3-(methacryloyloxy) propyl trimethoxysilane (MPTS). Solvent exchange and dialysis process were applied to purify the modified CSPs for being stable in dioxane solvent at pH 7 ± 0.1. Both original and modified CSPs exhibited narrow particle size distribution in the range of 10-100 nm, while dynamic diameters (Z-averaged) of the CSPs were n...
