Associations between psychological factors and daily step count in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis.
Conclusion: Older age, fewer stenoses, less severe stenosis at L3-L4, lower walking capacity, higher anxiety, and fear-avoidance beliefs about pain and depression are more closely associated with lower daily step count than are back and leg pain. Assessment and treatment of psychological factors might help to increase physical activity in patients with LSS. PMID: 33267720 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Barriers and Facilitators to the Adoption of Evidence-based Interventions for Adults within Occupational and Physical Therapy Practice Settings: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSIONS: Findings suggest a recent surge of scientific investment in understanding adoption determinants for evidence-based OT and PT interventions. Such knowledge can inform efforts aimed at improving OT and PT quality, thereby enhancing patient outcomes. However, our review highlighted gaps with significant implications for the delivery of evidence-based OT and PT within real-world practice settings.PMID:36966954 | DOI:10.1016/j.apmr.2023.03.005

Family members’ involvement in elder care provision in nursing homes and their considerations about financial compensation: A qualitative study
Abstract: The aim of this study was to establish how family members are involved in elder care provision in nursing homes; this included research into their feelings about potentially extending their involvement to obtain financial benefits as compensation for high accommodation costs. Family members remain involved in the caring process after their relatives have been admitted to an institution. On average, accommodation costs in nursing homes in Slovenia have risen above the residents’ retirement pension, and families must supplement the difference. Because of this, familial involvement should be linked to reduced acco...

Association Between Changes in Electromyographic Signal Amplitude and Abdominal Muscle Thickness in Individuals With and Without Lumbopelvic Pain
CONCLUSION: These results suggest a weak relationship between EMG amplitude and abdominal muscle thickness change measured with USI during the ADIM and ASLR, and raise questions about thickness change derived from USI as a measure of muscular activity for the abdominal musculature.J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2013;43(7):466-477. A scoping review of rehabilitation interventions for survivors of head and neck cancer.
CONCLUSION: This review has provided an overview of the scope of rehabilitation interventions available for survivors of head and neck cancer and preliminary information about their efficacy. This is foundational information for the development and refinement of rehabilitation interventions and programs for head and neck cancer survivors. Implications for Rehabilitation The existing evidence suggests that survivors of head and neck cancer can benefit from early screening of potential rehabilitation needs and being involved in preventive rehabilitation programs pre-surgery when possible. Rehabilitation programs should consi...
