Sensors, Vol. 23, Pages 7833: Characterization of Instrument Transformers under Realistic Conditions: Impact of Single and Combined Influence Quantities on Their Wideband Behavior
ci Robert Stiegler Instrument transformers (ITs) play a key role in electrical power systems, facilitating the accurate monitoring and measurement of electrical quantities. They are essential for measurement, protection, and metering in transmission and distribution grids and accurately reducing the grid voltage and current for low-voltage input instrumentation. With the increase in renewable energy sources, electronic converters, and electric vehicles connected to power grids, ITs now face challenging distorted conditions that differ from the nominal ones. The study presented in this paper is a collaborative work be...

Iran ’s researchers increasingly isolated as government prepares to wall off internet
Last year, a machine learning expert in Silicon Valley embarked on a long-distance partnership with two neuroscientists in Tehran, Iran. They planned to gather data on how neurons respond to visual cues, hoping to develop a marker for early detection of Parkinson’s disease. “I’d handle the modeling and analysis, and we’d co-author papers,” says the U.S.-based computer scientist, who asked to remain anonymous because he has family in Iran. Then, on 16 September 2022, Mahsa Jina Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman, died after Iran’s morality police detained her for allegedly wearing her hijab improperly. Her ...

Mapping of infection prevention and control education and training in some countries of the World Health Organization ’s Eastern Mediterranean Region: current situation and future needs
ConclusionClear disparities exist in IPC education and training across different countries in the WHO ’s EMR. Establishing a regional scientific network specializing in IPC would help bridge the existing gaps and standardize this education within individual countries and across countries in the region. This region needs to establish IPC certification standards and standardized education curricula.

U.S.-China tensions could complicate effort to renew key research pact
Rising tensions between the United States and China could derail the renewal of a 44-year-old agreement on scientific cooperation between the two countries. Last week, U.S. President Joe Biden invited China to spend the next 6 months discussing changes to the broad agreement, first signed in 1979, that enables joint research. The move came after Biden rejected calls from some Republicans to let the pact lapse on 27 August, its planned expiration date. But the 6-month extension leaves little time to resolve a host of thorny issues, policy experts say. They include how to protect intellectual property rights to any...

The university training of the sports manager in Italy between legislative misapplications and overlapping degree courses
ConclusionThere are evident contradictions in the degree courses designed for sports managers other than LM-47. According to the law, a master ’s degree in study class LM-47 is required to pursue this profession, but there are several degree programs from different classes of study (juridical and economic) available in the national educational offering. This situation may lead to the misapplication of Legislative Decree no. 36/2021 and r esult in problems with professional accreditation and limited employment opportunities for graduates of such courses. To promote the development of this professional figure, it is necess...
