Blood Pressure Medication Recall Expands Again To Include Losartan
(CNN) — A widespread recall of common blood pressure and heart failure medications has been expanded to include more drugs containing losartan. The recall is due to an “impurity” that is classified as a potential human carcinogen. The impurity, N-Nitroso-N-methyl-4-aminobutyric acid or NMBA, is also classified as a known animal carcinogen, the US Food And Drug Administration noted in a news release about the recall Friday. Eight Dead in Mumbai Hospital Fire
NEW DELHI (AP) — The death toll from a fire that swept through a Mumbai hospital has risen to eight, officials said Tuesday. Dozens of firefighters rushed to the Monday afternoon fire at the government-run ESIC Kamgar Hospital, but smoke engulfed the entire five-story building. At least eight people died in the fire, a police official said Tuesday, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. Sailors Killed when Ships Burn in Black Sea
MOSCOW (AP) — Two Tanzanian-flagged commercial vessels caught fire in the Black Sea, leaving at least 14 sailors dead, Russian officials said Monday. Five other sailors were missing. The Federal Agency for the Sea and River Transport said the fire erupted while fuel was being pumped from one tanker to another. Three Firefighters Killed in Plant Fire in India
NEW DELHI (AP) — An explosion triggered a fire Tuesday at a state-run oil and gas processing plant in western India, killing four people, officials said. Police officer V. Damgude said the four dead were three firefighters and one plant executive. Press Trust of India news agency said another three firefighters were injured and hospitalized.
