The Protective Effect of Magnolol in Osteoarthritis: In vitro and in vivo Studies
Conclusion
This work demonstrated that magnolol significantly inhibited IL-1β-induced PI3K/Akt/NF-κB pathway activation to attenuate inflammation and catabolism in human OA chondrocytes. Meanwhile, molecular docking results showed that magnolol occupied the active pocket of PI3K, which was consistent with the results found in vitro. Furthermore, in DMM-induced OA model, protective effects of magnolol on chondrocytes were also observed. Taken together, the results above may support the use of magnolol as a potential therapeutic regimen for OA.

Opioids No Better Than Over-The-Counter Pain Meds For Chronic Pain
CBS Local — A yearlong study offers rigorous new evidence against using prescription opioids for chronic pain. In patients with stubborn back aches or hip or knee arthritis, opioids worked no better than over-the-counter drugs or other nonopioids at reducing problems with walking or sleeping. They also provided slightly less pain relief.

Unsealed Documents Reveal Prince's Doctor Prescribed Meds For Singer Under Another Name
Opioid painkiller were found in pop star Prince’s home after his sudden death a year ago, and investigators were told that the musician had history of withdrawals “believed to be the result of abuse of prescription medication,” according to court documents unsealed on Monday.
According to a search warrant of Prince’s Paisley Park complex outside Minneapolis, investigators found several pills labeled Watson 853 - the identifier for the generic hydrocodone-acetaminophen - in various rooms.

Counterfeit Pills Containing Fentanyl Found At Prince's Estate
Counterfeit pills containing the synthetic opioid fentanyl were found at Prince’s estate in Minneapolis, the Associated Press reported Sunday.
A source associated with the investigation told the AP that inspectors found pills in an Aleve bottle that were falsely labeled as “Watson 385,” a common marking for pills that contain acetaminophen and hydrocodone. However, the AP reports that at least one of the pills tested positive for fentanyl, which is thought to be about 100 times stronger than morphine.
