BOSTON (CBS) — It’s generally recommended that people get their first colonoscopy at age 50, but after analyzing data on 6,000 procedures, French researchers say starting screening at age 45 could save lives. U.S. experts say there were some flaws with this study, so right now the American Cancer Society is standing by its recommendations to start screening at age 50 for people at average risk of developing colon cancer.
