Ozone therapy in 65 patients with fibromyalgia: an effective therapy.
CONCLUSIONS: At the moment, ozone therapy seems a treatment that, also because without any side effect, is possible to be proposed to patients with fibromyalgia that are not obtaining adequate results from other available treatments and it can be considered as complementary/integrative medicine. Unaltered low nerve growth factor and high brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in plasma from patients with fibromyalgia after a 15-week progressive resistance exercise.
CONCLUSION: Changes in circulating nerve growth factor and brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels may affect nociception/pain in fibromyalgia. Clinical improvements were achieved following the exercise intervention, but the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and nerve growth factor were not normalized. Evaluating soreness symptoms of fibromyalgia: Establishment and validation of the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire with Integration of Soreness Assessment
ConclusionThe FIQRS has good reliability and internal consistency for the assessment of disease impact on fibromyalgia patients, thus providing a reliable tool for soreness evaluation. Future studies are warranted for further validation regarding its correlation with other psychometric properties and life quality measurements.

Fibromyalgia interferes with disease activity and biological therapy response in inflammatory rheumatic diseases
AbstractFibromyalgia is one of the numerous comorbidities that may accompany inflammatory rheumatic diseases. Concomitant fibromyalgia in inflammatory rheumatic conditions can interfere with symptomatology, disease activity and overall management plan. The aim of the present narrative review article was to discuss the current evidence on (i) the prevalence/frequency of comorbid fibromyalgia in inflammatory rheumatic conditions, (ii) the role of fibromyalgia on disease activity, (iii) the impact of concomitant fibromyalgia on biological disease-modifying antirheumatic treatment outcomes and (iv) potential effectiveness of b...

Characterization of Burnout Among Spanish Family Physicians Treating Fibromyalgia Patients: The EPIFFAC Study
Conclusions: One-quarter of family physicians reported feeling exhausted, detached from fibromyalgia patients, or less professionally accomplished. Several personal characteristics and contextual variables increased burnout. Several interventions to modify these variables and, thus, protect family physicians treating fibromyalgia from burnout are suggested.

IJERPH, Vol. 17, Pages 6224: The 4 U ’s Rule of Fibromyalgia: A Proposed Model for Fatigue in a Sample of Women with Fibromyalgia: A Qualitative Study
This study followed a qualitative descriptive research method and a deductive–inductive hybrid approach based on a phenomenological paradigm. Twenty-six women with fibromyalgia participated in focus group discussions between February and March of 2018. Thematic content analysis was carried out from transcribed verbatim interviews. We identified nine major themes that emerged from the participants’ conversations: self-imposed duties, muscle fatigue, overwhelming feeling of tiredness, difficulty thinking, difficulty concentrating, negative emotions, lifestyle changes, affected everyday activities, and lack of motivation ...

Association between fibromyalgia and cataract: A database retrospective cohort study
This study was set to investigate whether fibromyalgia increased cataract risk. Fibromyalgia patients were the case group and controls were people who never had a history of fibromyalgia. We estimated the hazard ratio of cataract by Cox proportional-hazards model. The adjusted hazard ratios were obtained by controlling variables of age, sex, and comorbidities. Stratification analysis was also performed to ensure the association of fibromyalgia and cataract. We included 6949 participants in each groups. The incidence rate of cataract in patients with fibromyalgia (108.9 per 1000 person-years) was higher than that of c...
