Antidepressant effects of coumarins and their derivatives: A critical analysis of research advances
This study systematically examines the antidepressant effects of coumarins and their derivatives in relation to time series of research progress in the pharmacological pathways, association with other diseases, toxicity and bliometric analysis. The review was approached using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) coupled with R package using Biblioshiny, a web interface for Bibliometrix analysis and VOSviewer software analytic tools. Literature searches were conducted in Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed from the inception through January 21, 2023. Coumarins, depression, coumarin ...

Evaluation of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, lymphocyte-monocyte, and monocyte-high density lipoprotein ratios in patients with fibromyalgia and determination of their relationship with disease activity, pain, and depression levels
CONCLUSIONS: This study shows that in fibromyalgia patients, monocyte level and MHR were higher than in healthy subjects. Also, high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) level was found lower, and the total cholesterol level was found higher in patients with FM. Increased LMR and HDL-C values were found as responsible for decreasing the risk of developing FM and increased glucose and total cholesterol values were responsible for increasing the risk of FM developing.PMID:37318466 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32609

Targeting α7-nAChR by galantamine mitigates reserpine-induced fibromyalgia-like symptoms in rats: Involvement of cAMP/PKA, PI3K/AKT, and M1/M2 microglia polarization
Eur J Pharmacol. 2023 May 26:175810. doi: 10.1016/j.ejphar.2023.175810. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFibromyalgia (FM) is a pain disorder marked by generalized musculoskeletal pain accompanied by depression, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. Galantamine (Gal) is a positive allosteric modulator of neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) and a reversible inhibitor of cholinesterase. The current study aimed to explore the therapeutic potential of Gal against reserpine (Res)-induced FM-like condition along with investigating the α7-nAChR's role in Gal-mediated effects. Rats were injected with Res (1 mg/kg/day; sc)...

Sj ögren’s syndrome
AbstractSj ögren’s syndrome (SS) is characterised as keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eyes), xerostomia (dry mouth) commonly associated with salivary gland enlargement, and is referred to as Primary Sjögren’s syndrome. It is known as Secondary Sjögren’s syndrome when it occurs in patients, with connect ive tissue disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, polyarthritis nodosa, polymyositis, and systemic sclerosis. SS has also been associated with chronic graft-versus-host disease after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation, human immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), hepatit is C infection (H...
