In-depth insight into the effects of tapioca or corn acetylated distarch phosphate on the gel properties and in vitro digestibility of kung-wan
This study aimed to investigate the effects of incorporating tapioca acetylated distarch phosphate (TADSP) or corn acetylated distarch phosphate (CADSP) on the gel properties and in vitro digestibility of Chinese-style meatballs known as kung-wan. The results showed that TADSP and CADSP significantly enhanced the textural properties of kung-wan in a dose-dependent manner (P < 0.05), as well as enhanced the rheological behavior of meat batters. TADSP resulted in a denser meat protein gel network compared to CADSP, primarily because the lower pasting temperature of TADSP made it gelatinize earlier and more completely duri...

Int J Syst Evol Microbiol. 2023 Sep;73(9). doi: 10.1099/ijsem.0.006036.ABSTRACTFive halophilic archaeal strains (AGai3-5T, KZCA101T, CGA3T, WLHS1T and WLHSJ1T) were isolated from salt lakes and soda lakes in PR China. These strains had low 16S rRNA gene similarities (91.3-96.0 %) to closely related species of the family Natrialbaceae and may represent a new genus of the family. Phylogenetic and phylogenomic analyses revealed that these strains formed a distinct clade, separate from the nearby genera Natronobiforma and Saliphagus. The average nucleotide identity, digital DNA-DNA hybridization and average amino acid identity...

How does financial decentralization synergies carbon reduction and pollution control in China?
This study looks at how carbon reduction, pollution management, and monetary decentralization in China all work together for a win-win situation. Since China is the most significant contributor to global warming, the country must implement policies to cut carbon emissions and curb pollution. One possible answer is financial decentralization, delegating federal financial responsibilities, and decisions to state and regional governments. The study used the weighted matrix analysis technique, LM matrix analysis technique, and ARDL short-run and long-run analysis estimates. However, the degree to which it will help China reduc...

Can network infrastructure construction improve the low-carbon innovation of Chinese enterprises?
This study considers the implementation of the "Broadband China" strategy as an exogenous policy shock and examines the impact of network infrastructure construction (NIC) on the low-carbon innovation (LCI) of enterprises and its underlying mechanisms by using a progressive difference-in-difference model based on the data of Chinese listed enterprises from 2009 to 2020. This study finds that NIC can improve the LCI of enterprises. After the elimination of the sample selection bias and selection of the urban slope as the exogenous instrumental variable, the conclusions remained robust. The results of the mechanism test show...

Effectiveness of Tai Chi on cognitive function among older adults with mild cognitive impairment: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
CONCLUSIONS: This review reveals that Tai Chi can improve executive function, episodic memory, visuospatial function, and global cognition in older adults with mild cognitive impairment, but not working memory, concentration, or memory complaints. These findings are consist with existing reviews about the effectiveness of Tai Chi. Long-duration (> 1500 min) Tai Chi is more effective for improving global cognition. However, the findings should be interpreted with caution due to the potential risk of bias and limited sample sizes of the included studies. Future trials should examine the effectiveness of standardized Tai C...

Genomic signatures reveal selection in Chinese and European domesticated geese
In this study, we sequenced and analyzed the genome of the YL goose and the Hortobagy goose to combine with other previously sequenced goose populations for in-depth analysis. The population genetic variations in Stone geese, East Zhejiang White Geese, Taihu geese and Zi geese were also identified and compared. The results showed that admixture gene flow existed in the YL geese population, which was introgressed by Chinese geese, suggesting that gene flow events were frequent and widespread among domesticated geese. Further selected sweep analysis identified candidate genes and metabolic pathways that may be related to the...
