Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter-2 Inhibitors in Patients with Non-diabetic Chronic Kidney Disease: A Systematic Review
Iran J Kidney Dis. 2023 Jul;17(4):175-183.ABSTRACTSodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors modulate kidney function in diabetic chronic kidney disease trials. Furthermore, recent studies have showed their effect on kidney dysfunction in non-diabetic chronic kidney disease (CKD). Here, we focus on the impact of SGLT2 inhibitors on some renal parameters in nondiabetic CKD by discussing completed and ongoing trials. Different databases and search engines of Web of Science, PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, SID, and Magiran were searched until November 2022. We included human studies that evaluated the effect of SGLT2 i...

Ethical challenges as perceived by nurses in pediatric oncology units
CONCLUSION: From the nurses' perspective, the major ethical challenges in providing ethical care in pediatric oncology units were reducing tension toward promoting the patients' psychological safety, showing respect for the identity and dignity of the children with cancer, and expanding support of the patients' families. By creating the right cultural and professional context and establishing proper protocols, healthcare policymakers and administrators can take effective steps toward eliminating the barriers to providing ethical care.PMID:37624231 | DOI:10.1177/09697330231191278

Molecular Investigation of the Association Among Common Interleukin-6 Polymorphism and Human Papillomavirus Genotypes with Cervical Cancer Among Iranian Women
This study aims to investigate the molecular investigation of HPV infection and its association with the common polymorphism of IL-6 in cervical carcinoma in Iran. This case-control study collected 62 precancerous and cancerous lesions and 62 healthy samples from cancer-free women, subsequent negative colposcopy, and cervical cytology. The frequency of HPV genotypes and the genotyping of IL-6 rs1800795 and rs1800796 were done by different PCR techniques. Results were analyzed using the Epi Info version 7, 2012, with the χ2 test. Compared with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 1 (CINI), the HPV positivity rate is sa...

Evaluation of the antitumor activity of moronecidin (Piscidin)-like peptide in combination with anti-PD-1 antibody against melanoma tumor
CONCLUSION: Treatments with anti-PD-1 inhibitors alone had only a minor effect on tumor size, whereas combination therapy resulted in significant tumor growth control and increased animal survival. MLP therapy combined with anti-PD-1 antibody improves anti-tumor immune response in addition to inducing tumor cell apoptosis. As a result, the evidence suggests that intratumoral injection of MPL can improve anti-PD-1 antibody antitumor response.PMID:37605720 | PMC:PMC10440138 | DOI:10.22038/IJBMS.2023.69639.15166

Expression levels of foxo-1, p27kip1, mir-27, mir-186 and akt1/akt-p proteins in women with endometrial cancer and hyperplasia: implications for the human reproductive system
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that FOXO-1, miR-27, miR-186, and Akt1-P/Akt1 protein have the potential to serve as tissue biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis, and progression of EC in the human reproductive system.PMID:37601705 | PMC:PMC10439323 | DOI:10.4183/aeb.2023.1

Molecular Status of < em > BRAF < /em > Mutation in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer: An Analysis of 57 Cases in the Northeast of Iran
CONCLUSION: The BRAF mutation is most frequent in borderline tumors but not in invasive serous carcinomas. It seems that 2 different pathways exist for the development of ovarian epithelial neoplasms: one for borderline tumors and the other for high-grade invasive carcinomas. Our study supports this hypothesis. The BRAF mutation is rare in mucinous neoplasms.PMID:37600581 | PMC:PMC10439751 | DOI:10.30699/IJP.2023.554750.2907
