Mechanism Underlying a Brief Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Head and Neck Cancer Survivors with Body Image Distress
Conclusions: This randomized trial provides preliminary evidence that BRIGHT reduces BID among HNC survivors by decreasing avoidant body image coping. Further research is necessary to confirm these results and enhance the development of interventions targeting relevant pathways to reduce BID among HNC survivors. Trial Registration: This trial was registered on ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT03831100 on February 5, 2019.PMID:37720013 | PMC:PMC10503855 | DOI:10.21203/rs.3.rs-3303379/v1

Performance Validity Testing on the NIH Toolbox Cognition Battery: Base Rates of Failed Embedded Validity Indicators in the Adult Normative Sample
CONCLUSIONS: Multivariable EVIs requiring ≥ 4 failures using liberal cutoffs or ≥ 3 failures using conservative cutoffs had acceptable false-positive rates (i.e., < 10%) using both age-adjusted standard scores and demographically adjusted T-scores. These multivariable EVIs could be applied to large data sets with NIHTB-CB data to screen for potentially invalid test performances.PMID:37718664 | DOI:10.1093/arclin/acad071

The effectiveness of self: A meta-analysis of using self-referential encoding techniques in education
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that incorporating self-referential encoding techniques on negative materials shows an aversive effect. Overall, there is a universal benefit to using self-referential encoding techniques as an appropriate design guideline in educational contexts. Implications for teaching practice and future directions are discussed. Further studies are needed to investigate the effectiveness in more diverse educational and teaching situations.PMID:37722845 | DOI:10.1111/bjep.12636

Perception and engagement in unprofessional behaviors of medical students and residents: a mixed-method study
CONCLUSION: The results indicated that most participants engaged in unprofessional behaviors. The findings resulted from the internalized unprofessional culture in the workplace. The findings showed that engagement in unprofessional behaviors resulted from personal and systemic factors. Furthermore, systemic factors including the contextual risk factors (such as deficiency of explicit and hidden curriculum), and the suppression of unprofessionalism reporting mecha...
