Gross and Applied Anatomy Pedagogical Approaches in Occupational Therapy Education: A Scoping Review
Can J Occup Ther. 2023 Sep 8:84174231197614. doi: 10.1177/00084174231197614. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIntroduction. With technological advancements, anatomy teaching approaches in occupational therapy education have expanded. However, uncertainty remains regarding the approaches that best optimize academic and practice outcomes in student occupational therapists (OTs). Purpose. This scoping review mapped the pedagogical approaches used to teach musculoskeletal anatomy to student OTs. Methods. A scoping review was conducted, with a consultation exercise involving Canadian occupational therapy educators. Six databases w...

Thirty years of sustainability reporting research: a scientometric analysis
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 8. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29452-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe growing relevance of sustainability reporting (SR) has dramatically surged advocacy and interest among both academicians and practitioners. However, few studies have attempted to holistically encapsulate global research on sustainability reporting. The present study employed scientometric analysis on sustainability reporting based 1434 articles extracted from the Web of Science database, published between 1992 and 2022, to comprehensively map the intellectual structure of this field. Domain visualizations were constru...

Aerobic fitness and academic achievement: Disentangling the indirect role of executive functions and intelligence
Psychol Sport Exerc. 2023 Sep 6;70:102514. doi: 10.1016/j.psychsport.2023.102514. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTResearch in children points to aerobic fitness as a source of individual differences in academic achievement. By examining the indirect effects of executive functions (EF) and intelligence on the relationship between aerobic fitness and academic achievement, the present study provides novel insight about the cognitive mechanisms underlying this relationship. 218 children (8-10 years) completed the following assessments: (i) a VO2max test to assess aerobic fitness; (ii) four tasks tapping components of EF (i.e., i...

Impact of Successful Implementation of an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Protocol for Patients Undergoing Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy
CONCLUSIONS: Despite the heterogeneity of CRS/HIPEC operations, implementing an ERAS protocol for our patients was feasible and resulted in postoperative outcomes and adherence comparable with that of other major abdominal surgeries. This supports the potential for success in ERAS programs for CRS/HIPEC patients.PMID:37684372 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14222-8

Virtual Visits in Medical Education: A Medical Student and Resident Perspective
DISCUSSION: Learners perceive the ability to perform a physical exam, promote efficiency, and engage with faculty to be compromised in the virtual clinic setting. Residents had less favorable perceptions of virtual clinic compared to medical students. Faculty should consider these varying learner perceptions to optimize the educational environment in virtual care.PMID:37681457 | DOI:10.1177/00031348231198105
