Barriers, facilitators and implementation strategies for guideline-adherence in physiotherapy: a scoping review protocol
Introduction Guideline-adherent physiotherapy can improve patient outcomes and reduce costs in the healthcare system. However, although there are numerous guidelines for physiotherapy practice, services are not consistently based on clinical practice guidelines. While various systematic and scoping reviews have highlighted barriers, facilitators and implementation strategies for guideline-adherent practice in other health professions, this scoping review aims to explore the barriers and facilitators for guideline-adherent physiotherapy and summarises the strategies used to implement such practice. Methods and analysis Thi...

Inequitable treatment as perceived by international medical graduates (IMGs): a scoping review
Conclusions This study found evidence that IMGs believe they are subject to numerous common inequitable workplace experiences and that these experiences have self-reported repercussions on well-being and career trajectory. Further research is needed to substantiate correlations and causality in relation to outcomes of well-being and differential career attainment. Furthermore, research into support for IMGs and the creation of more equitable workforce environments is also recommended.

Primary care family physicians experiences with clinical integration in qualitative and mixed reviews: a systematic review protocol
The objective of this study is to generate a comprehensive map of FP-perceived factors influencing clinical integration across diseases and patient demographics. Methods and analysis We developed the protocol with the guidance of the Joanna Briggs Institute systematic review methodology framework. An information specialist built search strategies for MEDLINE, EMBASE and CINAHL databases using keywords and MeSH terms iteratively collected from a multidisciplinary team. Two reviewers will work independently throughout the study process, from article selection to data analysis. The identified records will be screened by titl...

Identifying biomarkers of treatment response to ciclosporin in atopic dermatitis through multiomic predictive modelling: DERMATOMICS study protocol
Introduction There is a need to optimise the management of atopic dermatitis (AD), improving the efficacy of treatments and reducing the toxicity associated with them. Although the efficacy of ciclosporine (CsA) in the treatment of AD has been thoroughly documented in the literature, the optimal dose has not been yet established. The use of multiomic predictive models of treatment response could optimise CsA therapy in AD. Methods and analysis The study is a low-intervention phase 4 trial to optimise the treatment of patients with moderate-severe AD requiring systemic treatment. The primary objectives are to identify biom...

Role of optical coherence tomography in depression detection: a protocol of systematic review and meta-analysis
This study aims to employ a systematic review and meta-analysis approach to explore ocular biomarkers measured by OCT for detecting depression. Methods and analysis We will search studies describing the relationship between OCT and depression across seven electronic databases, and retrieve articles published from database inception to date. We will also manually search grey literature and reference lists included in the retrieved studies. Two independent reviewers will screen studies, extract data and assess risk of bias. Target outcomes will include peripapillary retinal nerve fibre layer thickness, macular ganglion cell...

Prevalence, risk factors and management of common mental health disorders in Cameroon: a systematic review protocol
Conclusion This review will contribute to the current body of knowledge by providing a synthesis of current evidence on the prevalence of common MHDs, risk factors for different MHDs and the effectiveness of interventions for managing different mental health conditions in Cameroon. Ethics and dissemination This study will involve synthesis of published literature and does not warrant ethical approval. The findings will be disseminated through internationally peer-reviewed journals related to mental health. PROSPERO registration number CRD42022348427.

Criteria to achieve safe antimicrobial intravenous-to-oral switch in hospitalised adult populations: a systematic rapid review
Conclusion Through the rapid review, 33 IVOS criteria were collated and presented within five distinct and comprehensive sections. The literature highlighted the possibility of reviewing IVOS before 48–72 hours and of presenting heart rate, blood pressure and respiratory rate as a combination early warning score criterion. The criteria identified can serve as a starting point of IVOS criteria review for any institution globally, as no country or region limits were applied. Further research is required to achieve consensus on IVOS criteria from healthcare professionals that manage patients with infections. PROSPERO r...

Efficacy of antimalarial herbal medicines used by communities in malaria affected regions globally: a protocol for systematic review and evidence and gap map
Introduction With the rising resistance to artemisinin-based combination treatments, there is a need to hasten the discovery and development of newer antimalarial agents. Herbal medicines are key for the development of novel drugs. Currently, herbal medicine usage in communities for treatment of malaria symptoms is common as an alternative to conventional (modern) antimalarial agents. However, the efficacy and safety of most of the herbal medicines has not yet been established. Therefore, this systematic review and evidence gap map (EGM) is intended to collate and map the available evidence, identify the gaps and synthesis...

Quality assurance in surgical trials of arteriovenous grafts for haemodialysis: protocol for a systematic review
Introduction Decisions regarding the optimal vascular access for haemodialysis patients are becoming increasingly complex, and the provision of vascular access is open to variations in systems of care as well as surgical experience and practice. Two main surgical options are recognised: arteriovenous fistula and arteriovenous graft (AVG). All recommendations regarding AVG are based on a limited number of randomised controlled trials (RCTs). It is essential that when considering an RCT of a surgical procedure, an appropriate definition of quality assurance (QA) is made for both the new approach and the comparator, otherwise...

Strategies to integrate oral health into primary care: a systematic review
Conclusion The findings from this review demonstrate that the majority of identified strategies were associated with improved outcomes and can be used to inform decision-making on strategy selection. However, more research and evaluation are required to identify best practice models of service integration. PROSPERO registration number CRD42020203111.

Mental health awareness programmes to promote mental well-being at the workplace among workforce in the low-income and middle-income countries: a scoping review protocol
Introduction An understanding of the mental health awareness programmes among workforces in low/middle-income countries (LMICs) is lacking significantly in literature. Such understanding is crucial for the employers, government agencies and other stakeholders to initiate strategies to promote mental health and well-being at the workplace. Objective The main aim of this study is to conduct a scoping review to systematically map the research on the mental health awareness programmes among workforces in LMICs. Methods A comprehensive search strategy for the articles published between 2000 and 2022 will be conducted in MEDLI...

Characteristics of RCTs focusing on health promotion in community samples: a scoping review protocol based on the d-CoSPICO framework
Introduction Developing the capabilities of individuals, groups and communities to enhance their health has received a great deal of attention in the literature. One essential source of results is evidence-based intervention programmes, which often involve a number of different variables. This paper describes a methodology for carrying out a scoping review that maps available evidence on randomised controlled trials focusing on health promotion intervention programmes. Methods and analysis The scoping review protocol follows the general Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses and Joanna Briggs I...

Role of intraoperative processes of care during major upper gastrointestinal oncological resection in postoperative outcomes: a scoping review protocol
Introduction Optimal delivery and organisation of care is critical for surgical outcomes and healthcare systems efficiency. Anaesthesia volumes have been recently associated with improved postoperative recovery outcomes; however, the mechanism is unclear. Understanding the individual processes of care (interventions received by the patient) is important to design effective systems that leverage the volume-outcome association to improve patient care. The primary objective of this scoping review is to systematically map the evidence regarding intraoperative processes of care for upper gastrointestinal cancer surgery. We aim ...
