Meta-analysis of prevalence and prognosis of AHF in patients admitted with myocardial infarction: role of invasive management in determining patients' outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: After adjustment of clinical and cardiovascular baseline, significant results related to the impact of sex differences on mortality could be obtained. Disease prognosis may be affected by co-morbidities, especially diabetes Mellitus, kidney disease, hypertension, and COPD worsening the situation of patients.PMID:37203826 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202305_32308

Effect of midodrine on the prognosis of patients with septic shock: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The additional use of midodrine might reduce hospital mortality and ICU mortality in patients with septic shock. More high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to verify this conclusion.PMID:37203847 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202305_32331

Association between hepatitis C infection during pregnancy with maternal and neonatal outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Mothers with HCV infection had a markedly increased probability of PTB and/or IUGR and/or LBW. In clinical practice, standard care of treatment and proper monitoring are needed for the pregnant population with HCV infection. Our findings may provide useful information for selecting appropriate therapy methods for HCV-positive pregnant women.PMID:37140297 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202304_32120

Intradiscal steroid injection for the treatment of chronic non-specific low back pain in patients with Modic type 1 change
CONCLUSIONS: Among CLBP patients with MCI, the use of ISI was significantly associated with a reduction in pain intensity in the short term.PMID:37140287 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202304_32108

Antibacterial activity of nanoparticles and nanomaterials: a possible weapon in the fight against healthcare-associated infections
Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci. 2023 Apr;27(8):3645-3663. doi: 10.26355/eurrev_202304_32151.ABSTRACTHealthcare-associated infections are a serious threat in terms of morbidity and mortality for all patients receiving healthcare. The problem is aggravated by the increasingly widespread phenomenon of antibiotic resistance, with some microorganisms now resistant to all or almost all the currently available antibiotics. Nanomaterials are compounds used by many different industrial fields and they are currently studied for their intrinsic antimicrobial properties. To date, many researchers have considered using many different nanopa...

Unravelling the antibacterial potential of biosynthesized selenium nanoparticles against Salmonella Typhimurium food pathogen: in vitro and in vivo investigation
CONCLUSIONS: The biosynthesized SeNPs revealed antibacterial potential in vivo and in vitro; however, this finding should be elucidated clinically in the future.PMID:37140314 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202304_32149
