Effects of Epley procedure on BPPV patients: a systematic review of randomized controlled trails
CONCLUSIONS: The research ended with data confirming the benefit of the Epley maneuver in relieving symptoms in BPPV patients.PMID:37667917 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33392

Trajectories of Adherence to Home-Based Exercise Recommendations Among People With Low Back Pain: A Longitudinal Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Three adherence trajectories to exercise recommendations were identified in patients with low back pain. However, baseline characteristics cannot identify a patient's trajectory group.IMPACT: Despite the presence of distinct trajectories of adherence in patients with low back pain, physical therapists should not attempt to place a patient in a trajectory group at the start of treatment. Instead, adherence should be closely monitored as treatment progresses and supported when required as part of an ongoing process.PMID:37669137 | DOI:10.1093/ptj/pzad091

Finding the Optimal Resistance Training Intensity for your Bones (FORTIFY Bones): Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial
Phys Ther. 2023 Sep 5:pzad120. doi: 10.1093/ptj/pzad120. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOBJECTIVE: The purpose of this trial is to evaluate the effect of twice-weekly, moderate-to-high intensity progressive resistance training for 1 year on lumbar spine bone mineral density in individuals with low bone mineral density, compared to attention control. Secondary analyses will examine if resistance training improves other health outcomes; if high intensity is more effective than moderate intensity resistance training for all outcomes; the cost of intervention versus benefit; the willingness to pay; and harms.METHODS: For this s...

Vagus Nerve Stimulation Paired with Mobility Training in Chronic Ischemic Stroke: A Case Report
CONCLUSION: The participant demonstrated improved gait speed and timed distance after VNS-paired mobility training. Randomized, blinded trials are needed to determine treatment efficacy.IMPACT: This is the first documented case of VNS-paired mobility training in an individual with chronic poststroke gait impairments. VNS paired with mobility training may improve poststroke gait impairments.PMID:37669130 | DOI:10.1093/ptj/pzad097

The influence of EEG channels and features significance on automatic detection of epileptic waves in MECT
Comput Methods Biomech Biomed Engin. 2023 Sep 5:1-16. doi: 10.1080/10255842.2023.2252952. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTModified Electric Convulsive Therapy (MECT) is an efficacious physical therapy in treating mental disorders. The occurrence of epilepsy is a crucial benchmark for evaluating therapeutic effectiveness. However, the medical field still lacks relevant research on automatically detecting epileptic waves in MECT. Therefore, this article proposes a novel automatic detection method of epileptic waves in MECT. In this article, EEG local features (time, frequency, and time-frequency domains) and global features (P...
