Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 4681: Decanoic Acid Exerts Its Anti-Tumor Effects via Targeting c-Met Signaling Cascades in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Model
Kwang Seok Ahn DA, one of the medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil, is suggested to have diverse biochemical functions. However, its possible role as a chemoprevention agent in HCC has not been deciphered. Aberrant activation of c-Met can modulate tumor growth and progression in HCC. Here, we report that DA exhibited pro-found anti-tumor effects on human HCC through the suppression of HGF/c-Met signaling cascades in vitro and in vivo. It was noted that DA inhibited HGF-induced activation of c-Met and its downstream signals. DA induced apoptotic cell death and inhibited the expression of diverse tumorigenic pr...

Impact of adjuvant chemotherapy on long-term overall survival in patients with high-risk stage II colon cancer: a nationwide cohort study
CONCLUSION: 5-year overall survival was significantly higher in patients with high-risk stage II colon cancer treated with adjuvant chemotherapy compared with no chemotherapy. Adjuvant treatment was given to less than half of the patients who were eligible for it.PMID:37725517 | DOI:10.1080/0284186X.2023.2251086

Novel miRNA-based drug CD5-2 reduces liver tumor growth in diethylnitrosamine-treated mice by normalizing tumor vasculature and altering immune infiltrate
DiscussionCD5-2 normalized tumor vasculature and reduced hypoxia in DEN-induced liver tumors. CD5-2 plus anti-PD1 antibody reduced liver tumor size possibly by altering the immune infiltrate to a more immunosupportive one.

Neoadjuvant triplet chemotherapy with docetaxel, cisplatin plus 5-FU vs docetaxel, cisplatin plus S-1 for advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: Propensity score matched analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Neoadjuvant DCS therapy for resectable advanced ESCC did not result in significantly higher clinical and pathological response than neoadjuvant DCF therapy. However, neoadjuvant DCS therapy for resectable ESCC required comparatively shorter hospital stays and incurred lower costs, making it an attractive therapeutic option.PMID:37708864 | DOI:10.1159/000533790

CO < sub > 2 < /sub > laser combined with low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation promotes recovery of swallowing function in elderly patients with early glottic carcinoma
CONCLUSION: CO2 laser combined with LPRA can provide relatively high clinical efficacy for early GLC in the elderly, after which patients' swallowing function and vocal function recover quickly, but the long-term benefit of adding LPRA is not evident.PMID:37692942 | PMC:PMC10492083
