Delayed esophageal anastomotic complication and ramucirumab therapy: A case report
In conclusion, this is the only known report of delayed esophageal anastomotic complication associated with ramuciru mab. VEGF inhibitor therapies such as bevacizumab have been associated with late (greater than 3 months postoperative) colorectal anastomotic complications including fistulas and leaks. Risk factors that have been associated are perioperative radiotherapy and history of early postoperative leak. The se findings raise concern whether VEGF inhibitor therapy should be used in post-esophagectomy patients with recurrence if these rare but catastrophic events are likely to be terminal.

Thiazolidinedione use and retinal fluid in the comparison of age-related macular degeneration treatments trials
Conclusions In this exploratory analysis, patients with diabetes taking thiazolidinediones and treated with bevacizumab or ranibizumab for nAMD had worse baseline mean VA, greater reductions in subretinal and subretinal tissue complex thickness from baseline, and greater proportions with IRF comparing to patients not taking thiazolidinediones. Trial registration number ClinicalTrials.gov NCT00593450.

Botulinum toxin type a in multimodal management of age-related macular degeneration and related diseases
Toxicon. 2023 May 18:107170. doi: 10.1016/j.toxicon.2023.107170. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAge related macular degeneration (AMD) is the major cause of visual loss in the aging population in the Western world. In past decade, intra ocular injections of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti VEGF) pharmaceuticals have revolutionized therapy for exudative (edematous-wet) AMD and become standard practice for the near term. However repeated intra-ocular injections are required for years and long terms results have been limited. The pathogenesis of this condition is multifactorial involving genetic, ischemic, inflamm...

Failed cancer therapy revived as powerful tumor killer when combined with newer drugs
Patients with a type of liver cancer known as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) often face an anxious wait after their tumor is removed. In up to half of these people, the cancer will return within 2 years after surgery or a treatment that destroys their tumors with heat. Researchers haven’t identified any therapies that can stop it from coming back. That could change thanks to a class of drugs once seen as a failed revolution in cancer therapy. Angiogenesis inhibitors, which throttle tumors by cutting off their blood supply, never measured up to expectations when they reached clinical trials more than 2 decades ago. B...

Case report: POLE (P286R) mutation in a case of recurrent intestinal leakage and its treatment
In recent years, although new drugs and molecular markers have been used to treat metastatic colorectal cancer, there has been little progress in the immunotherapy of advanced colon cancer. The development of sequencing and multiomics technology helps us classify patients more accurately, and then find patients who may benefit from immunotherapy. The development of this advanced technology and immunotherapy based on new targets may herald a new era in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer. It is well known that colorectal cancer with dmmr/msi-h phenotype is sensitive to immunotherapy, yet the POLE mutation is the M...

Long-term effects of anti-vegf monotherapy for retinopathy of prematurity on the retinal and refractive development of eye
Conclusion: All the anti-VEGF agents provided similar adequate axial and refractive development as well as similar abnormal vascular development in the peripheral retina. The long-term impact of this abnormally vascularized peripheral retina is a curiosity issue. From this point of view, it is an important need to determine the follow-up period and method after the anti-VEGF treatment for ROP.

Multimodal imaging of recurrent cystoid macular edema associated with poems syndrome responsive to intravitreal dexamethasone implant
Conclusion: Cystoid macular edema may develop in POEMS syndrome in the absence of systemic findings, elevated serum vascular endothelial growth factor, or optic nerve edema. Previously unreported peripheral vascular leakage was demonstrated on ultra-wide field fluorescein angiography. Dexamethasone implant was the most effective of used therapies to treat CME.
