IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 5253: Ultrastructural Alterations of the Glomerular Filtration Barrier in Fish Experimentally Exposed to Perfluorooctanoic Acid
Giari Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances can be referred to as the most critical group of contaminants of emerging concern. They can accumulate in high concentration in the kidney and are known to potentially affect its function. Nonetheless, there is a lack of knowledge about their morphopathological effect on the glomerular filtration barrier. Since previous research suggests perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) induces glomerular protein leakage, the glomerular filtration barrier of 30 carp from the same parental stock (10 unexposed; 10 exposed to 200 ng L−1 of PFOA; and 10 exposed to 2 mg L−1 ...

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 5120: Greening China & rsquo;s Growth: Assessing the Synergistic Impact of Financial Development and Technological Innovation on Environmental Pollution Reduction & mdash;A Spatial STIRPAT Analysis
This study employs the Cournot model to examine the impact of financial development and technological innovation on environmental pollution at the micro level. It utilizes the spatial STIRPAT model to analyze inter-provincial panel data from China between 2005 and 2020. The results show that China’s ecological environment pollution exhibits significant spatial dependence, and heavily polluted areas tend to agglomerate. While improving financial development can increase regional environmental pressure, positive spatial spillover improves environmental quality in neighboring areas. Conversely, technological inn...

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 5115: How Fast to Avoid Carbon Emissions: A Holistic View on the RES, Storage and Non-RES Replacement in Romania
prea The European Union targets aim to replace the non-renewable energy sources (non-RES) of coal, oil and gas (COG) generation with RES and storage (RES-S). The replacement of COG-generating units will lead to a decrease in CO2 emissions and a better living environment. Starting from this desideratum, in this paper, we create several scenarios to replace COG in Romania with RES-S, reconsider future energy mixes and engage with a more creative planning in order to meet the clean energy transition path. The energy shortages, especially in European countries after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, led many governments (in...

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 4715: Urban Exotic Pollution: The Harmful Environmental Footprint for Health and Historical Architecture
n Silviu Gurlui The study in this paper was carried out as a result of the observation of pollution phenomena and foaming effects associated with anthropogenic activities, including street cleaning activity. The processes of dust binding used in order to reduce PM10 and PM 2.5 pollution has been proven to be inefficient, and even contributing to pollution with particulate matter. Our results suggest that the use of dust binders must be integrated in a technique that includes methods of removing agglomerated particle structures resulting from the process of coagulation or flocculation. These are the conclusions of the...
