Amphipathic Helical Peptide L37-pA Protects Against Lung Vascular Endothelial Dysfunction Caused by Truncated Oxidized Phospholipids via Antagonism with CD36 Receptor
Am J Respir Cell Mol Biol. 2023 Sep 19. doi: 10.1165/rcmb.2023-0127OC. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGeneration of bioactive truncated oxidized phospholipids (Tr-OxPLs) from oxidation of cell membrane or circulating lipoproteins is a common feature of various pathological states. Scavenger receptor CD36 is involved in lipid transport and acts as a ligand for Tr-OxPLs. Interestingly, both Tr-OxPLs and CD36 are involved in endothelial dysfunction-derived acute lung injury but precise mechanistic connections remain unexplored. In the present study, we investigated the role of CD36 in mediating pulmonary endothelial cell (EC) ...

γ-tocopherol methyltransferase gene sequencing and SNP discovery associated with olive oil quality
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2023 Aug 31;69(8):111-117. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2023.69.8.17.ABSTRACTγ-tocophérol methyltransferase (GTMT), a key enzyme in the tocopherols biosynthesis pathway, is involved in the conversion of δ- and l'γ-tocophérol to β- et l'α-tocophérol, respectively. In fact, it plays an important role in the α-tocopherol composition and the quality of olive oil. A total of 14 olive tree cultivars (Olea Europaea L.) were chosen and used in this study. They were sampled from different regions of Tunisia. Four cultivars from four Mediterranean regions (Greece, Algeria, Morocco, and Spain) were inclu...

Relationship between Dental Caries Experience and the Levels of Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus in Saliva of Pregnant Women
This study aims to correlate dental caries experience with Streptococcus mutans and lactobacillus levels in saliva using real-time PCR. This case-control analytical study conducted in Erbil City, Iraq, between 2021 and 2023 used a Cariogram to assess tooth decay risk and a real-time PCR assay to detect oral bacteria. Kurdish chewing gum with oil extract was used to stimulate saliva production. The chance of preventing tooth decay was 50.57% in pregnant women and 60.26% in non-pregnant women, with a statistically significant difference. The correlation between caries risk categories and Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillu...
