S-1 as an alternative treatment after 5-fluorouracil-induced coronary vasospasm in a patient with small bowel adenocarcinoma: a case report
Abstract5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is a chemotherapeutic agent used worldwide to treat various solid tumors. It may cause adverse cardiotoxic events, the most common of which is coronary vasospasm. Recently, the 2022 European Society for Medical Oncology guidelines for metastatic colorectal cancer recommended S-1 as an alternative therapy after 5-FU-induced cardiotoxicity; however, only limited data on Asian patients are available. Here, we report a case of safe administration of S-1 to a 72-year-old Japanese female patient with metastatic small bowel adenocarcinoma who developed 5-FU-induced coronary vasospasm. While receiving...

Pain-related stigma in patients with breast, colon, prostate or lung cancer : Results of a bicentric register-based cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings support the assumption that the experience of pain can have an impact on the perceived stigmatization of cancer patients. Depression might influence the perceived stigmatization. Therefore, this group of patients should receive special attention and psycho-oncological care in clinical practice. Further research on the course and mechanisms of action of pain-related perceived stigmatization is also required.PMID:37710022 | DOI:10.1007/s00482-023-00752-3

GSE242789 The Effect of Immunotherapy PD-1 Blockade on Acute Bone Cancer Pain: Insights from Transcriptomic and Microbiomic Profiling
Conclusions: Our study underscores fundamental connections among gastrointestinal toxicity, microbiota alterations, and acute cancer pain within the context of tumor immunotherapy. This work provides potential targets for the development of novel analgesics (targeting transcriptomic/microbiota factors), which could enhance the efficacy of bone pain management for cancer patients, ultimately improving their quality of life.
