Does advanced imaging guide therapy
I’m a PMR/spine specialist and was curious if MRIs help you all when treating chronic neck and/ or low back pain? If so can you give specific examples of how it would guide your treatment plan in both the neck and low back. Appreciate all that you do

Average wRVUs West Coast?
I am looking to relocate to California. I was recently offered a position at a hospital, production only model with an offer of 62 dollars per wRVU. Anyone have average dollar per RVU data for California? I was only able to find MGMA data from 2018, nothing more recent. Thank you!

Options for Pancoast tumor pain
One of the local family docs called me - his 100 year old patient was having arm pain and Horner's syndrome, and lo and behold we found a huge Pancoast tumor invading into brachial plexus, with bony mets in the cervical spine as well. He's sending her to hospice, but wants to know if I have any palliative procedures I can do first. Would any of you try a neurolysis? Anatomy seems too messy to try a brachial plexus catheter. Any other ideas? Should I just let hospice do what they can with... Read more

Consistently low creatinine on UDS??
I have a patient who was referred by a retiring rheumatologist on 90 MMES morphine. She was consistently short on her morphine and I transitioned to buprenorphine. Since starting buprenorphine every UDS (three times now) has reported abnormal creatinine (“dilute urine. May result in false negative. Possible deliberate diluation.”) Her UDS on her initial visit did not show abnormal creatinine. Could there a physiological reason for this or is she being facitious? I felt I couldn’t definitely... Pslf
Planning on doing pain fellowship. Is it worth it to apply to PSLF? It seems like most jobs out there are private practice jobs and they would not qualify for PSLF. I believe some of the HOPD jobs would qualify but definitely not all. Any pain docs that actually went through PSLF and had their loans successfully forgiven? Loan amount: 200K

Do educational interventions improve prescribing skills of medical students compared to no additional learning? A systematic review
Med Educ Online. 2023 Dec;28(1):2259166. doi: 10.1080/10872981.2023.2259166. Epub 2023 Sep 18.ABSTRACTResearch suggests that medical students are not confident and may be ill-prepared to prescribe competently. Therefore, changes to standard education may be required to fortify medical student prescribing skills, confidence, and competence. However, specific education to write a safe and legal prescription is generally lacking. Furthermore, the term prescribe and the skill thereof is not clearly defined. This review compares additional education for medical students to no identified additional education or another education...

Association of pain neurophysiology knowledge and application amongst UK chiropractic students: A cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: Chiropractic placement students in the United Kingdom appear to have a lower level of pain knowledge than other health care professionals and education institutions may wish to consider how to best address this within their curricula.PMID:37721388 | DOI:10.7899/JCE-22-27

Sij
This is such a boring conversation topic but I can’t help myself. Why is there an obsession with SIJ as a pain generator? Why is it over diagnosed, over treated to the point of fusion. Like what is it? I remember 1st year out of fellowship asking this question to myself and others about unilateral ass pain…to this day I continue to wonder about ass pain and the obsession of SIJ as a go to diagnosis. Are there any new studies, treatments, diagnostic pearls, let’s please not bore ourselves... Read more

Epub 2023 Sep 5.ABSTRACTThe limited number and diversity of resident physicians pursuing careers as physician-scientists in medicine has been a concern for many decades.
