Trust Still Matters
For over two decades the Gallup Organization (Gallup's annual Most Honest and Ethical Professions survey) identified nursing as the most trusted profession, higher than physicians, pharmacists, high school teachers, clergy, and judges (Brenan,  2023). While these results for our profession are compelling, there is also evidence that trust overall in the health care profession has declined (Baker, 2020; Huang et al., 2018). But why? Are patients and families simply less trusting of health care professionals in general? Are consumer exp eriences in health care simply more negative?

Effects of Hot Pack Therapy on Post-Colonoscopy Pain: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Study
Post-colonoscopy pain (PCP) is a negative condition that causes physical and psychological distress to patients and may lead to noncompliance with treatment and follow-up. The most common hypothesis for the cause of PCP is the inflation of the lumen with air to examine the mucosa. There are no previous studies that have examined the effects of thermal therapy in patients with PCP.

Randomized Trial Examining Efficacy of Mentha piperita in Reducing Chronic Headache Discomfort in Youth
Headache is a common source of pediatric disability and significantly affects school and social functioning (Nieswand et  al., 2020). Headache is cited as a leading reason for health care utilization, and the third leading cause of referral to pediatric emergency departments (Kabbouche& Linder,  2005). A systematic review of pediatric chronic or recurrent pain by King et al. (2011) found a wide range of reported prevalence. Specific to pediatric headache, prevalence was found to be 8-83% amid the studies meeting inclusion criteria (n = 29,746).

An Unexpected Finding in a Patient Presenting With Acute Ear Pain
Atypical skin lesions are common incidental findings in patients across all settings where nurse practitioners practice, and it is imperative that each provider is competent to identify and address concerning findings. In patients with limited access to care, this becomes especially important and can be more challenging. This case study describes the unique approach to the evaluation and treatment of a patient experiencing several barriers to accessing the care he needed promptly.

Transient Adrenal Insufficiency Following Pfizer/BioNTech Coronavirus Disease-2019 Vaccine Overdose
The COVID-19 pandemic has already caused more than 6.5 million deaths worldwide.1 Although vaccines have been instrumental in controlling the pandemic, they have many adverse effects. The most common adverse effects include pain at the injection site, fatigue, headache, myalgia, arthralgia, pyrexia, and nausea.2,3 Because of the massive scale of vaccinations, there has been an increase in the number of adverse effects, some of which have been due to incorrect application of the vaccine.

The Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale in Heart Failure: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: This review highlighted the Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale as a predictive instrument to identify symptom burden, symptom clusters, and symptom changes for patients living with heart failure. The clinical use of the Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale may identify treatment priorities, promote self-management, inform the treatment plan, and advance effective therapeutic adjustments. The symptom burden in heart failure is high, and improving the symptom experience is an important focus of future healthcare interventions. The Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale has utility in heart failure management due to psycho...

Increasing Provider Self-Efficacy to Manage Chronic Cancer Pain
The United States is currently amid a significant opioid epidemic (Jackson,  2019). In the 1990s, pain was marked as the fifth vital sign and providers were required to effectively treat pain with opioid therapy (Jones et al., 2018). Frequent use of opioids has been associated with opioid tolerance, misuse, and opioid associated mortality (Jones et al., 2018). In 2016 alone there were approximately 42,000 opioid associated-deaths (Jackson, 2019; Jones et al., 2018).
