A nomogram based on the preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio to distinguish sarcomatoid renal cell carcinoma from clear cell renal cell carcinoma
ConclusionNLR is a potential indicator for preoperative differentiation of SRCC and CCRCC, and the predictive model constructed based on NLR has a good predictive ability. The new model could provide suggestions for the early identification of SRCC.

Brain-computer interface relieves chronic chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: BCI is a promising treatment for CIPN and may have a longer lasting effect than placebo (nonspecific BCI), which is an important consideration for long-term symptom relief. Although scientifically interesting, the ability to separate real from placebo treatment may not be as important as understanding the placebo effects differently from effects of the intervention.PLAIN LANGUAGE SUMMARY: Chemotherapy-induced nerve pain (neuropathy) can be disabling for cancer survivors; however, the way symptoms are felt depends on how the brain interprets the signals from nerves in the body. We determined that the perception...

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 4664: Proximal Tibia Tumour Location and Curettage Are Major Risk Factors of Local Recurrence in Giant Cell Tumour of Bone
Pazourek Giant cell tumour of bone (GCTB) is one of the most common local aggressive tumourous lesions with a wide variety of biological behaviour. However, there are no clear indicative criteria when choosing the type of procedure and the complication rates remain high, especially in terms of local recurrence. The purpose of the study was to (1) identify the main risk factors for local recurrence, (2) evaluate the recurrence-free survival in dependence on neoadjuvant denosumab use and the type of procedure, and (3) compare the functional outcomes after curettage and en bloc resection. The group included 102 patients w...

Effect of transversus abdominis plane block on postoperative outcomes in gynecologic oncology patients managed on an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery pathway
CONCLUSIONS: Surgeon-administered TAP blocks were associated with decreased length of stay and post-operative opioid use in patients not receiving scheduled NSAIDs. This decrease in opioid use was not associated with any increase in average or maximum pain scores.PMID:37729808 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.09.003

Synchronous rectal adenocarcinoma and intestinal mantle cell lymphoma: A case report
CONCLUSION: Synchronous rectal adenocarcinoma and intestinal MCL presenting as multiple lymphomatous polyposis are extremely rare. MCL is often discovered fortuitously when rectal cancer is diagnosed. The coexistence of these tumors poses treatment challenges.PMID:37727717 | PMC:PMC10506007 | DOI:10.12998/wjcc.v11.i24.5772
