Microbial diversity of bioaerosol inside sports facilities and antibiotic resistance of isolated Staphylococcus spp.
AbstractIn the modern world, healthy habits and physical and mental fitness are more important than ever. A growing number of people participate in sports to improve their overall health. However, the conditions in which people exercise are seldom examined. It is obvious that the air in buildings, including sports facilities, can be contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms, causing infections and allergies. Our study was aimed at assessing microbial air quality inside several sports facilities (fitness room, martial arts room, swimming pool, sports hall, gym) and at a sports field. Another objective was to evaluate the ...

Effect of Modified Xianglian Pingwei Powder plus Glutathione and Levofloxacin Hydrochloride on Patients with Liver Cirrhosis and Positive Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth
Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2022 Apr 11;2022:5063088. doi: 10.1155/2022/5063088. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTLiver cirrhosis is a common chronic disease in China. The effect of modified Xianglian Pingwei powder plus Western medicine in the treatment of liver cirrhosis and positive small intestinal bacterial overgrowth is promising. Totally, 100 patients with liver cirrhosis and positive intestinal bacterial overgrowth in Cangzhou Central Hospital from February 2020 to February 2021 were enrolled and randomized via the random number table method at a ratio of 1 : 1 into the study group and control group. The control gr...

Effects of Catheter Tracking Management on Urinary Tract Function and Infection Rates in Patients With Spinal Cord Injury
CONCLUSIONS: For patients with SCIs, catheter follow-up management can be helpful in restoring the function of the bladder and urinary tract, can improve patients' QoL, and reduce their rate of UTIs. Clinically, medical practitioners should select antibiotics reasonably according to a bacterial culture and drug-sensitivity test.PMID:36634314

New treatment strategies for pulmonary sarcoidosis: antimetabolites, biological drugs, and other treatment approaches
Publication date: Available online 20 July 2015 Source:The Lancet Respiratory Medicine Author(s): Robert P Baughman, Jan C Grutters About half of patients with sarcoidosis will need systemic therapy for their disease. Oral glucocorticoids are the standard first-line treatment for sarcoidosis. With time, patients might develop substantial morbidity from long-term use of high doses of these drugs. We propose a step-wise approach to the management of pulmonary disease in sarcoidosis and provide details about how and when to use alternatives to glucocorticoids. The antimetabolites, such as methotrexate, azathioprine, leflu...

Antimicrobial use at a multi-disciplinary hospital.
CONCLUSIONS: During the analyzed periods we observed some improvement in the sensitivity of the main pathogens to antibiotics. At the same time, the resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii to carbapenems and fluoroquinolones increased.Limitations of the studyThere are many other than antibiotic use factors, which influence these results. Further analysis is planned to be carried out. Nevertheless, this analysis makes us believe that we are, probably, on the right path for improving the use of antibacterial drugs.
