Background: Increased participation of adolescents in organized sports has led to an increase in pediatric sports injury. Sports Medicine Training and Practice Opportunities for Emergency Physicians

The epidemiology of 1345 shoulder dislocations and subluxations in French Rugby Union players: a five-season prospective study from 2008 to 2013.

Sudden cardiac arrest in sports: a video analysis.

Sports-related injuries in New Zealand: National Insurance (Accident Compensation Corporation) claims for five sporting codes from 2012 to 2016.

Celebrating specialty recognition Sports medicine in Holland is in celebratory mood after its recognition as a full medical specialty. Acute injuries in 35 sports; incidences and severity
Conclusions Sports with numerous acute injuries, high incidence and more severe injuries must be the target for prevention actions. This study suggests that team sports and motorcycle should be the object. Next step is to identify injury types, anatomical locations and injury mechanisms to understand how to prevent these injuries.

The Impact of Race, Insurance, and Socioeconomic Factors on Pediatric Knee Injuries
Disparities persist in pediatric sports medicine along the lines of race, ethnicity, insurance status, and other demographic factors. In the context of knee injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures, meniscus tears, and tibial spine fractures, these inequalities affect evaluation, treatment, and outcomes. The long-term effects can be far-reaching, including sports and physical activity participation, comorbid chronic disease, and socio-emotional health. Further research is needed to more concretely identify the etiology of these disparities so that effective, equitable care is provided for all children.

Death by homicide in National Collegiate Athletic Association athletes between 2003 and 2013.
CONCLUSIONS: Homicide-related deaths in NCAA athletes occur most commonly in males, black athletes, and American football players. Understanding the incidence, risk factors, and circumstances of homicide-related deaths in college athletes may assist NCAA institutions in developing preventative measures. The compulsory use of helmets on school ski trips.
Discussion: The compulsory wearing of helmets in several resorts has helped to increase the awareness and importance of helmet use. A potential impact on not wearing a helmet is the concern that holiday insurance could be invalidated if injured. One British insurer now stipulates for the mandatory wearing of helmets within their policy. Findings show helmet use has been associated with a reduced risk of head injuries and the International Ski Federation recommends that all skiers regardless of ability and age use helmets. 20 Years of Pediatric Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction in New York State
Conclusion: This study is the first to quantify the increasing rate of ACL reconstructions in the skeletally immature. Only ACL reconstructions were assessed, and it is possible that some ACL tears in children are not diagnosed or are treated nonoperatively. The rate of ACL tears in New York State is likely higher than the rate of reconstructions reported in this study. Significance: This study quantifies the increasing rate of ACL reconstruction in the skeletally immature and suggests that there may be some disparities in care based on insurance status.
