Sports hernias: experience in a sports medicine center
Conclusions Our series reflects the multidisciplinary approach performed in a sports medicine center in which patients are initially evaluated by orthopedic surgeons in order to discard the most common causes of “pubalgia”. “Sports hernias” are often associated with adductor muscle strains and other injuries of the groin allowing speculate that these respond to a common mechanism of production. We believe that, considering the difficulty to design randomized trials, only a high coincidence among the diagnostic and therapeutic instances can ensure a rational health care.

Understanding noninguinal abdominal hernias in the athlete.
Abstract Abdominal hernias are common with over 20 million hernia repairs performed worldwide. Inguinal hernias are the most common type of hernia. Inguinal and sports hernia have been discussed at length in recent literature, and therefore, they will not be addressed in this article. The noninguinal hernias are much less common but do occur, and knowledge of these hernias is important when assessing the athlete with abdominal pain. Approximately 25% of abdominal wall hernias are noninguinal, and new data show the order of frequency as umbilical, epigastric, incisional, femoral, and all others (i.e., Spigelian, ob...

Systematic review: laparoscopic treatment of long-standing groin pain in athletes.
CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic surgery for elite athlete groin pain is increasingly becoming more common with almost 1000 patients reported since 1997. No particular laparoscopic technique appears to offer any advantage over the other. PMID: 26031647 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Exercise induced median arcuate ligament syndrome in athletes: case series.
Authors: Grant Y, Onida S, Dharmarajah B, Davies EB, Davies AH Abstract The median arcuate ligament (MAL) is a fibrous arch connecting the right and left diaphragmatic crura; this usually lies superior to the origin of the coeliac axis. Occasionally, the ligament crosses anterior to the aorta, at the level of the coeliac trunk; leading to mechanical compression of the coeliac artery, resulting in the clinical condition of MAL syndrome (MALS). Symptomatic patients characteristically present with post-prandial pain associated with unintentional weight loss, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. An open or laparoscopic surg...

Successful treatment for sports hernia by total extraperitoneal repair with intraperitoneal examination: Report a case
CONCLUSION: We show that intraperitoneal examination with TEP might be one of options for treating such a sports hernia. Endoscopic placement of the retropubic mesh must be considered an important option for this type of hernia.PMID:36582910 | PMC:PMC9793256 | DOI:10.1016/j.amsu.2022.104954

Inhibitory effect of Traditional Korean Medicine on the recurrent endometriosis after laparoscopic excision: a case report
This report presents a case of a patient who has repetitive recurrence of endometriosis after laparoscopic excision and hormone therapy. A 32-years-old female patient first had laparoscopic surgery to remove endometriosis in 2011. The disease recurred two more times after the first excision. Occupational radiation exposure of radiopharmacy-, nuclear medicine-, and surgical personnel during use of < sup > 99m < /sup > TcTc-PSMA-I & amp;S for prostate cancer surgery
Conclusion: The effective dose for personnel involved in handling [99mTc]Tc-PSMA-I&S is comparable to that of other 99mTc-radiopharmaceuticals and therefore safe for imaging and radioguided surgery.PMID:34330802 | DOI:10.2967/jnmt.121.262161
