Effects of Apatinib Mesylate Monotherapy on the Incidence of Adverse Reactions and Immune Function in Patients with Breast Cancer after Radical Mastectomy
CONCLUSION: Apatinib mesylate monotherapy after radical mastectomy yields a high DCR, a lower incidence of adverse events, and improved immune recovery. Clinical trials are, however, required prior to clinical promotion.PMID:35990841 | PMC:PMC9385297 | DOI:10.1155/2022/4022282

Why Do We Dream? A New Theory on How It Protects Our Brains
When he was two years old, Ben stopped seeing out of his left eye. His mother took him to the doctor and soon discovered he had retinal cancer in both eyes. After chemotherapy and radiation failed, surgeons removed both his eyes. For Ben, vision was gone forever. But by the time he was seven years old, he had devised a technique for decoding the world around him: he clicked with his mouth and listened for the returning echoes. This method enabled Ben to determine the locations of open doorways, people, parked cars, garbage cans, and so on. He was echolocating: bouncing his sound waves off objects in the environment and cat...

Generalizability assessment of head and neck cancer NTCP models based on the TRIPOD criteria.
Abstract This review aimed to provide an overview of the level of maturity of normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) models for head and neck cancer (HNC) patients. A systematic literature review was performed to retrieve NTCP models for HNC toxicities. Patient population characteristics, NTCP model and the predictors, treatment technique and endpoint definition were extracted per article. Models were then scored based on the TRIPOD (transparent reporting of a multivariable prediction model for individual prognosis or diagnosis) consensus guidelines to evaluate their generalizability. 335 articles on photon...

Could the biological robustness of low level laser therapy (Photobiomodulation) impact its use in the management of mucositis in head and neck cancer patients
Low level laser therapy (LLLT) was first introduced for potential clinical applications by Mester in the late 1960s. This form of laser treatment, currently referred to as photobiomodulation (PBM), limits radiation intensity by transferring low energy to tissues and thereby does not generate heat. Among the clinical indications for which LLLT has been reported to be efficacious are pain relief (back and neck, orthodontic, shoulder), wound healing, carpal tunnel syndrome, colorectal cancer, elbow disorders, fibromyalgia, lymphedema, musculoskeletal dysfunction, myofascial pain syndrome, neurological dysfunctions, patella-fe...
