Neuropsychiatric post-acute sequelae of COVID-19: prevalence, severity, and impact of vaccination
This study aimed to determine the prevalence and predictors of neuropsychiatric post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 among Egyptian COVID-19 survivors and to study the impact of full vaccination before COVID-19 infection on the occurrence and severity of these manifestations. Three months after getting COVID-19 infection, 1638 COVID-19 survivors were screened by phone for possible neuropsychiatric sequelae. Subjects suspected to suffer from these sequelae were invited to a face-to-face interview for objective evaluation. They were requested to rate the severity of their symptoms using visual analogue scales (VAS). The mean age ...

Objective multidisciplinary measurements of sleep disturbance and autonomic dysfunction as risk factors for chronic subjective tinnitus
CONCLUSION: This is the first study to administer PSG and autonomic function tests to patients with chronic subjective tinnitus. Poor sleep quality and autonomic dysfunction were implicated as risk factors for tinnitus. PSG and the autonomic function tests helped identify tinnitus-related comorbidities and inform tinnitus treatment. Sleep disturbance and autonomic dysfunction did not exert an interaction effect on tinnitus. Further studies with a larger sample size and the inclusion of patients with more severe tinnitus are warranted.PMID:36610887 | DOI:10.1016/j.jfma.2022.12.013

Ginkgo biloba for tinnitus
CONCLUSIONS: There is uncertainty about the benefits and harms of Ginkgo biloba for the treatment of tinnitus when compared to placebo. We were unable to draw meaningful conclusions regarding the benefits and harms of Ginkgo biloba when used with concurrent intervention (hearing aids). The certainty of the evidence for the reported outcomes, assessed using GRADE, ranged from low to very low. Future research into the effectiveness of Ginkgo biloba in patients with tinnitus should use rigorous methodology. Randomisation and blinding should be of the highest quality, given the subjective nature of tinnitus and the strong like...

Predicting the Outcomes of Internet-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Tinnitus: Applications of Artificial Neural Network and Support Vector Machine
CONCLUSIONS: Predictive models such as ANN and SVM help predict ICBT treatment outcomes and identify predictors of outcome. However, further work is needed to examine predictors that were not considered in this study as well as to improve the predictive power of these models.SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL: https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.21266487.PMID:36215687 | DOI:10.1044/2022_AJA-21-00270
