Battlefield Acupuncture as a Treatment Option for  Chronic Tinnitus: A Pilot Study
CONCLUSIONS: Findings from eight chronic tinnitus sufferers who received two BFA treatment sessions are reported here, suggesting at least short-term treatment benefits observed as reductions in tinnitus-related psychological distress and impact. Although these findings are constrained by the study's small sample size and limited treatment period, its findings underscore the need for further research to determine the potential benefits of BFA for individuals who suffer from chronic tinnitus. Future research should consider the possibility of more lasting benefits through extended BFA treatment, with a comparison of BFA tre...

Effect of Acupuncture Treatment on Cortical Activation in Patients With Tinnitus: A Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy Study
Tinnitus is an auditory phantom percept that affects the perception of sound in the patient’s ears, and the incidence of prolonged tinnitus is as high as ten to fifteen percent. Acupuncture is a unique treatment method in Chinese medicine, and it has great advantages in the treatment of tinnitus. However, tinnitus is a subjective symptom of patients, and there is currently no objective detection method to reflect the improvement effect of acupuncture on tinnitus. We used functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to explore the effect of acupuncture on the cerebral cortex of tinnitus patients. We collected the sc...

Acupuncture decreases amygdala functional connectivity in subjective tinnitus
This study aimed to investigate the changes in functional connectivity (FC) of AMYG in subjective tinnitus to elucidate the neural mechanism of acupuncture.MethodsCorrelation scale scores of 26 patients with subjective tinnitus were collected, including Tinnitus Evaluation Questionnaire (TEQ), Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) and Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Meanwhile, rs-fMRI data were collected before and after acupuncture treatment in the patients, and in healthy controls (HC) matching the patient's gender and age. Then, AMYG was selected as region of interest to perform FC analysis. Finally, FC patterns of AMYG were fir...

Effects of acupuncture on the outcome of tinnitus: An overview of systematic reviews
ConclusionAcupuncture seems to be a positive and effective treatment for tinnitus. However, the methodological quality and quality of evidence for SRs/MAs in the included studies were generally low, and this result must be viewed with caution. Therefore, more high-quality, large-scale, multi-center randomized controlled trials are needed in the future to verify the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of tinnitus.

Systematic Evaluation of the Efficacy of Acupuncture Associated with Physical and Mental Intervention when Treating Idiopathic Tinnitus and the Improvement of Tinnitus Symptoms
CONCLUSION: On the basis of acupuncture treatment, associated with physical and mental intervention is helpful to the recovery of patients with idiopathic tinnitus, can effectively improve their clinical symptoms, and is suitable for clinical application. A popularization of this concept in clinical practice is worth considering, but further research and follow-up with a higher methodological quality and longer intervention time are needed to confirm its efficacy.PMID:36081433 | PMC:PMC9448529 | DOI:10.1155/2022/6764909
