Hmm, There May Be A Link Between Vaccines And Political Pandering
You’d think that between the two major-party candidates for president, plus the two third-party candidates drawing significant support in the polls, there would be at least one person with an unblemished record of support for mandatory public vaccination ― one of the greatest public health achievements in history ― against the bogus idea that vaccines cause autism. You’d be wrong. While Republican nominee Donald Trump is the only proponent of the autism theory among those four, each of the other candidates has flirted with it at one point or another. Book Review: Mom, Mania, & Me
Just how is a child cope when her mother goes off the handle in fits of rage, often leaving painful welts on her arms and legs, only to, days later, dress her up, buy her new clothes and take her to the theater? Often hiding under the kitchen table, ducking behind doors, or simply trying not to be seen, she describes living in constant fear of the one person ...

Note: This is a follow-up to my previous piece, "Understanding Trump." Please read that piece first.) The Responsible Reporter's Problem Responsible reporters in the media normally transcribe political speeches so that they can accurately report them. But Donald Trump's discourse style has stumped a number of reporters. Dan Libit, CNBC's excellent analyst is one of them. Libit writes: His unscripted speaking style, with its spasmodic, self-interrupting sentence structure, has increasingly come to overwhelm the human brains and tape recorders attempting to quote him. Trump is, simply put, a transcriptionist's worst n...

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — More than 500 passengers were being evacuated on Wednesday from a ship that caught fire about a mile off Puerto Rico's north coast.
