(Universidad Carlos III de Madrid) From the crest of a wave in the sea to the surface of a glass of water, there are always small fluctuations in density at the point where the air comes in contact with a liquid. Until now, it was thought that the atoms in these regions behaved as if they were in a 'drum skin', based on the assumption that the surface tension between the two elements caused the water to be drawn taut like a drum and to act as such when disturbed.

John Hancock Wants To Turn Life Insurance Into A Wellness Game

The financial services company said Wednesday that it will attach a free version of its wellness program, Vitality, to all life insurance policies. Spinal Stabilization Technologies raises $11m for PerQdisc lumbar device
Spinal Stabilization Technologies today reported raising more than $11 million for its lumbar disc replacement device. San Antonio, Texas-based SST is developing the PerQdisc device to treat degenerative disc disease of the lumbar spine in adults. The device consists of two separate, inflatable chambers designed to replace the degenerated disc. After placement the inner chamber is first inflated with a radiopaque contrast media before the outer chamber is filled with a polymer, according to the company’s website.
