http://media.boston.cbslocal.com/CBSBOS_1604201522190500000AA.mp4 ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Think you’re safe from ticks because the harsh winter froze them or because you haven’t been trekking through the woods? Think again. And a researcher at New York’s Binghamton University said Lyme disease-infected ticks aren’t just in forests and fields. “We’...

‘Romeo and Juliet’ Dinosaurs Found Buried Together
Researchers uncovered a dinosaur couple that had been buried together for more than 75 million years and gave them the nicknames “Romeo and Juliet.” The dinosaurs, a pair of oviraptors, were found to have physical differences suggesting they were male and female, similar to the gender differences seen in modern birds, the researchers wrote in the journal Scientific Reports. They were discovered within about 20 centimeters of each other in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia. It’s likely that the love birds were killed in a sand dune collapse brought on by heavy rains, and therefore buried alive—suggesting a m...

http://media.boston.cbslocal.com/CBSBOS_0204201517383300000AA.mp4 BOSTON (CBS) – Antibiotics are over prescribed in this country and as it turns out, 20 percent of them are used to treat sinusitis. Sinusitis gets diagnosed about 30 million times annually, but not every sinus headache is sinusitis and not every sinusitis requires antibiotics. Symptoms of sinusitis include colorful nasal discharge, stuffy nose, facial pain and pressure...

Parents Warned To Use Metric System When Giving Medicine To Kids
http://media.boston.cbslocal.com/CBSBOS_3003201517444000000AA.mp4 BOSTON (CBS) – Patients are often told to give their child a teaspoon or 2 ½ teaspoons of a medication like Tylenol or ibuprofen or an antibiotic. The problem is, some parents will use a regular kitchen spoon and could inadvertently give too much medication. For example, a tablespoon of liquid is three times as much as a teaspoon. So pediatricians are encouraging parents to focus on milliliters instead…and once again are calling on drug manufacturers, pharmacists, and doctors to be consistent about metric dosing. Look for the millilit...

http://media.boston.cbslocal.com/CBSBOS_3003201517492300000AA.mp4 BOSTON (CBS) – Working moms are spending as much time with their kids as “at-home” mothers did in the early 1970s, but many moms and some dads still feel guilty about not spending even more time with their children. Dr. Mallika Marshall says working moms and dads shouldn’t worry so much. It’s quality time that matters, not quantity. In the first large-scale study of its kind, researchers found that the amount of time parents spend with their kids between the ages of 3 and 11 has essentially no bearing on how their children do in t...

EggBanxx, a national company that partners with local fertility clinics, hosted the party at the Liberty Hotel in Boston. More than 50 women shared drinks and got a chance to talk to fertility doctors about the possibility of freezing their eggs, which has only been considered non-experimental for about three years now. “...

Does Sleep Improve Memory and Sex?
http://media.boston.cbslocal.com/CBSBOS_2303201518263700000AA.mp4 BOSTON (CBS) – There’s more evidence that a midday siesta can do you good. A new study out of Germany asked people to memorize dozens of words and phrases, and those who took a 45-minute nap remembered more word pairs than those who stayed awake and watched a DVD instead. A different study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine looked at the effect of sleep on a woman’s sex life and they found that for each additional hour a woman slept, the likelihood that she would engage in sexual activity in the next 24 hours increased b...
