Childhood Eye Examination in Primary Care
Am Fam Physician. 2023 Jul;108(1):40-50.ABSTRACTApproximately 7% of children in the United States younger than 18 years have a diagnosed eye disorder, and 1 in 4 children between two and 17 years of age wears glasses. Ferroptosis: mechanisms and advances in ocular diseases
Mol Cell Biochem. 2023 Jan 8. doi: 10.1007/s11010-022-04644-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAs an essential trace element in the body, iron is critical for the maintenance of organismal metabolism. Excessive iron facilitates reactive oxygen species generation and inflicts damage on cells and tissues. Ferroptosis, a newly identified iron-dependent type of programmed cell death, has been implicated in a broad set of metabolic disorders. Ferroptosis is mainly characterized by excess iron accumulation, elevated lipid peroxides and reactive oxygen species, and reduced levels of glutathione and glutathione peroxidase 4. The vas...

Pseudoretinoblastoma: Distribution based on gender, age, and laterality
DISCUSSION: PSRB diagnoses show differences depending on gender, age, and laterality. In our study, the most common PSRB lesions were Coats disease in males and PFV in females. PFV was the most frequent diagnosis in ≤3 years and Coats disease in >3 years of age groups. Coats disease and PFV were the most common unilateral and bilateral PSRB diagnoses respectively.PMID:35570796 | DOI:10.1177/11206721221100627
