Glaucoma in rural China (the Rural Epidemiology for Glaucoma in China (REG-China)): a national cross-sectional study
Conclusions Rural populations have a high prevalence of glaucoma, which should be included in chronic disease management programmes in China for long-term care.

Impact of primary glaucoma on health-related quality of life in China: the handan eye study
We assessed health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and its determinants among rural glaucoma participants compared to age-matched normal controls in the population-based Handan Eye Study (HES), in rural Yongni...

Cost-utility analysis of commonly used anti-glaucoma interventions for mild-to-moderate primary open-angle glaucoma patients in rural and urban China
Conclusions The long-term cost-effectiveness of commonly used surgical procedures could be better than the short-term cost-effectiveness for mild-to-moderate POAG patients in China. Health economic studies, supported by more rigorous structured real-world data, are needed to assess their everyday cost-effectiveness.

The Incidence and Risk Factors of Optic Nerve Damage of Posner-Schlossman Syndrome: A Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSION: A fraction of PSS patients ultimately develop GOND so physicians should not be highly optimistic about the prognosis of PSS patients and timely and effective treatment is very important. Patients of higher age, those with double eyes affected, and suffering from a long disease duration might be at a greater risk of developing GOND.PMID:37652409

Predictors of long-term intraocular pressure control after lens extraction in primary angle closure glaucoma: results from the EAGLE trial
Conclusion Patients with primary angle closure glaucoma/PAC are 10 times more likely to maintain drop-free good IOP control with initial CLE surgery than LPI. Non-Chinese ethnicity, higher baseline IOP and using glaucoma drops prior to randomisation are predictors of worse long-term IOP response.

Development and validation of the 40-item Glaucoma Visual Functioning Questionnaire
Conclusions The GVFQ-40 possesses good validity and reliability. It can be used to evaluate the impact of glaucomatous damage on visual ability and has potential in the evaluation of intervention efficacy. Trial registration number NCT04722861.

Retinal nerve fibre layer thickness measured with SD-OCT in a population-based study: the Handan Eye Study
Conclusions In non-glaucoma individuals, this difference of RNFL thickness in Chinese population should be noted in making disease diagnoses. Meanwhile, multiple ocular and systemic factors are closely related to the thickness of RNFL. Our findings further emphasise the need to demonstrate ethnic differences in RNFL thickness and the specificity of associated ocular and systemic factors, as well as to develop better normative databases worldwide. Trial registration number HES was registered in Chinese Clinical Trial Registry website, and the registry number was ChiCTR-EOC-17013214.

Small molecule protein kinase inhibitors approved by regulatory agencies outside of the United States
Pharmacol Res. 2023 Jul 14:106847. doi: 10.1016/j.phrs.2023.106847. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTOwing to genetic alterations and overexpression, the dysregulation of protein kinases plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of many autoimmune and neoplastic disorders and protein kinase antagonists have become an important drug target. Although the efficacy of imatinib in the treatment of chronic myelogenous leukemia in the United States in 2001 was the main driver of protein kinase inhibitor drug discovery, this was preceded by the approval of fasudil (a ROCK antagonist) in Japan in 1995 for the treatment of cerebral ...

2% Ganciclovir Controlled Posner-Schlossman Syndrome Relapse and Reduced the Chance of Corticosteroid Dependence: A Large Cohort in East China
CONCLUSION: 2% GCV solutions worked effectively on PSS relapse with corticosteroids and anti-glaucoma agents. In patients suspected of CMV infection, proper GCV could reduce the chance of corticosteroid dependence.PMID:37437131 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2228404
