Unilateral acute iris transillumination syndrome with glaucoma and iris pigment epithelium dispersion simulating iris melanoma
CONCLUSION AND IMPORTANCE: Unilateral acute iris transillumination syndrome with diffuse iris pigment epithelial loss can simulate iris melanoma. Prompt herpes viral studies may be informative.PMID:37680309 | PMC:PMC10481171 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajoc.2023.101912

Lens factor as an underlying mechanism in primary angle closure with gonioscopically-visualized ciliary body processes
ConclusionGonioscopical visualization of ciliary processes may suggest that anterior segment crowding, especially lens factor is the underlying mechanism in PAC. It may provide a practical gonioscopic examination method for predicting the predominant pathophysiology of PAC.

Traboulsi syndrome without features of Marfan syndrome caused by a novel homozygous < em > ASPH < /em > variant associated with a heterozygous < em > FBN1 < /em > variant
CONCLUSION: We here report a novel splice-affecting homozygous pathogenic variant in the ASPH gene that was detected in a Brazilian patient with clinical features of Traboulsi syndrome.PMID:37133842 | DOI:10.1080/13816810.2023.2206888

Axial length and corneal curvature of normal eyes in the first decade of life
CONCLUSIONS: We provide a set of normative charts for axial length and corneal curvature which may facilitate the identification of eyes outside the normal range and assist in the management of ocular conditions such as glaucoma or cataract.PMID:37093758 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231167643

Paradoxical autosomal recessive bestrophinopathy-like phenotypes shown in an autosomal dominant pedigree
CONCLUSIONS: An ARB-like phenotype could be caused by a heterozygous mutation of the BEST1 gene and inherited in an AD fashion.PMID:37019433 | DOI:10.1177/11206721231167767

Intraocular medulloepithelioma clinical features and management of 11 cases
CONCLUSIONS: Initial misdiagnosis, delay in diagnosis and subsequent misdirected management is not uncommon in medulloepithelioma. The presence of multiple cysts in the tumour and retrolental neoplastic cyclitic membrane detected by UBM can offer certain information. Selective intra-arterial melphalan may prevent further tumour growth, but longer follow-up is necessary until treatment efficacy is fully evaluated.PMID:36997291 | DOI:10.1136/bjo-2022-322449

Corneal Biomechanical Properties of various types of glaucoma and their impact on measurement of intraocular pressure
Introduction Corneal biomechanical properties could affect intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement. To evaluate the differences of corneal biomechanical properties of various types of glaucoma, assess their effect on IOP measurements. Methods An observational clinical study of 486 subjects including 102 normal subjects, 104 ocular hypertension (OHT), 89 normal tension glaucoma (NTG) and 191 high tension glaucoma (HTG). Corneal biomechanical parameters were measured using ocular response analyzer (ORA). The main parameters assessed were corneal hysteresis (CH), corneal resistance factor (CRF), Goldmann-correlated pressure m...

Two-Year Outcomes of Ultrasound Cyclo Plasty as a First Procedure in Glaucoma
CONCLUSIONS: UCP can be used as an initial glaucoma procedure for reducing IOP and the number of antiglaucoma medications and offers comparable outcomes in POAG and PACG.PMID:36762779 | DOI:10.1080/08820538.2023.2170715
