Differences in muscle magnetic resonance imaging findings between anti-signal recognition particle antibody-positive myopathy and anti-aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase antibody-positive myositis
CONCLUSIONS: A comparison of thigh MRI between anti-SRP myopathy and anti-ARS myositis showed different findings and lesion sites reflecting the different pathophysiology that may contribute to their diagnosis.PMID:37497714 | DOI:10.55563/clinexprheumatol/fjfkfs

Atrial Myopathy and Ischemic Stroke in Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction
We examined the hypothesis that atrial myopathy may be associated with ischemic stroke in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. This is an exploratory, post hoc analysis of the Treatment of Preserved Cardiac Function Heart Failure with an Aldosterone Antagonist (TOPCAT) trial. Patients with sinus rhythm documented at baseline electrocardiogram and without known AF were included in this analysis.

Genes, Vol. 14, Pages 1539: Danon Disease: Entire LAMP2 Gene Deletion with Unusual Clinical Presentation & mdash;Case Report and Review of the Literature
This report describes a 42-year-old father and his 3-year-old daughter presenting with mild manifestations of the disease. The father has normal intellectual development and normal physical activity. At the age of 13, he was diagnosed with mild ventricular pre-excitation known as Wolf–Parkinson–White syndrome (WPWs), very mild and mostly asymptomatic cardiomyopathy and left ventricular hypertrophy, and at about the age of 25 presented with visual impairment due to cone–rod dystrophy. His daughter showed normal development and very mild asymptomatic electrocardiographic WPWs abnorma...

Upregulation of the CD155-CD226 Axis Is Associated With Muscle Inflammation and Disease Severity in Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathies
This study aimed to investigate the expression and tissue-specific roles of CD155-CD226/TIGIT pathway molecules in the inflamed muscles of patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs). Methods Immunohistochemistry, Western blot analysis, and polychromatic immunofluorescence staining were performed to examine the expression of CD155, CD226, and TIGIT in skeletal muscle biopsies from 30 patients with dermatomyositis (DM), 10 patients with amyopathic DM (ADM), 20 patients with immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM), 5 patients with dysferlinopathy, and 4 healthy controls. Flow cytometry analysis was used to a...

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Findings of the Lower Limb Muscles in Anti-Mitochondrial M2 Antibody-Positive Myositis
Group of disorders characterized by myositis symptoms, including progressive muscle weakness and muscle inflammation in a setting of autoimmune abnormalities are collectively known as autoimmune myositis (AIM) or idiopathic inflammatory myopathy [1,2], including dermatomyositis (DM), anti-synthetase syndrome (ASS), immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM), inclusion body myositis (IBM) [3,4] and other less well-characterized conditions.

Nonsurgical hypoparathyroidism is associated with skeletal muscle dysfunction and restrictive lung disease
CONCLUSION: Detailed testing of patients with HP without overt muscle and lung diseases revealed significant impairment in parameters of skeletal muscle function. Myopathy and RLD were observed in a considerable proportion of patients with HP.PMID:37477385 | DOI:10.1093/ejendo/lvad091

Patent foramen ovale leading to mismanagement in a mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke ‐like episodes patient
We report the clinical, imaging, echocardiography and muscle biopsy findings of a patient presenting by unique characteristics which have not been reported in previous cases of MELAS. The reported case is a 34  year old man with the history of three times hospitalization due to muscle weakness, encephalopathy, progressive cognitive decline, and gradual visual loss. Muscle biopsy revealed Ragged Red Fibers concomitant with mitochondrial disorders. PFO was found in echocardiography leading to mismanagemen t of this patient and MR imaging showed ischemic lesions with a progressive pattern. This is the first reported case of...
