Preliminary results on an autochthonous dengue outbreak in Lombardy Region, Italy, August 2023
Euro Surveill. 2023 Sep;28(37). doi: 10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2023.28.37.2300471.ABSTRACTIn August 2023, six locally acquired dengue virus 1 infections were detected in Lodi province, Lombardy Region, in northern Italy, where the vector Aedes albopictus is present. Four cases were hospitalised, none died. The viruses clustered with Peruvian and Brazilian strains collected between 2021 and 2023. This preliminary report highlights the importance of continued integrated surveillance of imported vector-borne virus infections and the potential for tropical disease outbreaks in highly populated regions of northern Italy where compet...

Untargeted cannabinomics reveals the chemical differentiation of industrial hemp based on the cultivar and the geographical field location
Anal Chim Acta. 2023 Oct 16;1278:341716. doi: 10.1016/j.aca.2023.341716. Epub 2023 Aug 22.ABSTRACTCannabis sativa has long been harvested for industrial applications related to its fibers. Industrial hemp cultivars, a botanical class of Cannabis sativa with a low expression of intoxicating Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC) have been selected for these purposes and scarcely investigated in terms of their content in bioactive compounds. Following the global relaxation in the market of industrial hemp-derived products, research in industrial hemp for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical purposes has surged. In this context, meta...

Promoting the systematic use of real-world data and real-world evidence for digital health technologies across Europe: a consensus framework
Health Econ Policy Law. 2023 Sep 14:1-16. doi: 10.1017/S1744133123000208. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDespite the acceleration in the use of digital health technologies across different aspects of the healthcare system, the full potential of real-world data (RWD) and real-world evidence (RWE) arising from the technologies is not being utilised in decision-making. We examine current national efforts and future opportunities to systematically use RWD and RWE in decision-making in five countries (Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom), and then develop a framework for promotion of the systematic use of RWD...

Navigating carbon emissions in G-7 economies: a quantile regression analysis of environmental-economic interplay
This study employs panel data from 1990 to 2020 for the G-7 countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the USA) and employs the examination of heterogeneous slope coefficients and cross-sectional dependence tests as preliminary steps before conducting cointegration analysis and second-generation unit-root tests. This study employs the method of movement quantile regression (MMQR) to analyze long-run and short-run relationships. The findings from the MMQR model indicate that economic growth and imports have a negative impact on consumption-based CO2 (CCO2) emissions, which worsens at higher quantiles. On ...

Body image impact on quality of life and adolescents' binge eating: the indirect role of body image coping strategies
CONCLUSIONS: The body image impact on quality of life can be alternatively protective-when adaptive coping is solicited, and maladaptive strategies are reduced-or a risk factor, which may increase binge eating by soliciting appearance fixing.LEVEL III: Evidence obtained from cohort or case-control analytic studies.PMID:37707679 | PMC:PMC10501925 | DOI:10.1007/s40519-023-01607-7
