Association between Expanded Disability Status Scale score and dietary antioxidant capacity in patients with multiple sclerosis
Braz J Med Biol Res. 2023 Sep 8;56:e12776. doi: 10.1590/1414-431X2023e12776. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTMultiple sclerosis (MS), a neuroinflammation that results in neurodegeneration, is the most prevalent central nervous system inflammatory disease in young people. A diet rich in antioxidants is known to decrease the production/activity of pro-inflammatory cytokines and have a positive impact on the prognosis of MS. The purpose of this study was to assess if dietary antioxidant capacity is related to Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores in patients with MS. Patients with MS (n=220; 137 women and 83 men) were asked...

Usefulness of tumor perfusion on cone-beam CT after hepatic arterial infusion port implantation for evaluating tumor response to hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy in hepatocellular carcinoma treatment
CONCLUSION: Hyperperfusion tumors on CBCT showed a better tumor response to HAIC, with a 65% ORR in patients with HCC. Tumor perfusion on CBCT after implantation of the hepatic arterial infusion port was associated with the tumor response to HAIC.PMID:37695260 | DOI:10.4274/dir.2023.232311

Hypersensitivity reactions to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in adults: Beyond current classification
CONCLUSIONS: While the EAACI/ENDA classification system stratifies NSAID-induced hypersensitivity reactions into five distinct endotypes or phenotypes, it may not fully capture the diversity of these reactions. Our findings suggest a need for further research to refine this classification system and better accommodate patients with atypical presentations.PMID:37695234 | DOI:10.15586/aei.v51i5.946

Parental use of causal language for preterm and full-term children: A longitudinal study
J Child Lang. 2023 Sep 11:1-25. doi: 10.1017/S030500092300048X. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTParents are often a good source of information, introducing children to how the world around them is described and explained in terms of cause-and-effect relations. Parents also vary in their speech, and these variations can predict children's later language skills. Being born preterm might be related to such parent-child interactions. The present longitudinal study investigated parental causal language use in Turkish, a language with particular causative morphology, across three time points when preterm and full-term children wer...
