Evaluation of Discharge Training Given to Patients Undergoing Revascularization
CONCLUSIONS: Female nurses aged 41 and over, working in the revascularization laboratory, and reading the relevant literature performed postrevascularization patient discharge training practices at a higher level compared to other nurses. The importance of nurses' field specialization training, advancing age with working years, experience, and access to current literature for better patient care is emphasized.PMID:37715750 | DOI:10.1016/j.jopan.2023.05.010

Clipping of a Rebleeding Ruptured Aneurysm After Woven EndoBridge Treatment
CONCLUSION: As a conclusion, re-bleeding can be seen after aneurysm treatment with the Web device. If it is planned to re-close the aneurysm treated with the web device with a surgical clip, the pressure created by the device against the vessel can be reduced with the additional clip.PMID:37715605 | DOI:10.5137/1019-5149.JTN.41381-22.2

Perinatal Presentation of a Congenital Intramedullary Capillary Hemangioma in a Neonate Born with Hydrocephalus and Paraplegia
We present a neonate with an intramedullary hemangioma, born with communicating hydrocephalus and complete paraplegia. Spinal imagining showed an intradural mass with hemorrhagic foci, a low-lying conus medullaris, and scalloping of dorsal elements. Ventriculoperitoneal shunting was performed in an emergent setting, with cerebrospinal fluid showing a brownish appearance with high viscosity which implied a possible old hemorrhage. Tissue sample was taken from the spinal lesion in an elective setting. Histopathological examination revealed capillary lobules and extralobular large vessels resembling abnormal veins. The mentio...

Tissue Expressions of Regulatory Enzymes of the Krebs Cycle in Low- and High-grade Gliomas
CONCLUSION: Regulatory enzymes of the Krebs cycle are increased in high-grade gliomas compared to low-grade gliomas. Glutaminolysis enzymes, namely glutamate dehydrogenase and glutaminase, which are required for resupplying the Krebs cycle, are also increased in order to meet the high energy demand in high-grade gliomas.PMID:37715603 | DOI:10.5137/1019-5149.JTN.40697-22.2

Evaluation of Willis Polygon Morphometry with Cranial Tomographic Angiography
CONCLUSION: We also found that the vessel diameters were similar in the HT, DM and HT+DM groups, and smaller than the control group. In addition, we think that knowing WP morphometric measurements will both guide the radio-anatomical evaluations to be made and increase the level of microanatomical knowledge in surgical treatment.PMID:37715602 | DOI:10.5137/1019-5149.JTN.40346-22.4

Perceptions of pediatric residents and pediatricians about ethical dilemmas: The case of Turkey
This study determined the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of pediatricians and pediatric residents regarding issues of ethics, professional education, clinical ethical principles, and consent they encounter in health service delivery.METHODS: Participants in the study were 134 pediatricians and pediatric residents from three hospitals in Ankara, Turkey. Participants were asked questions regarding their sociodemographic characteristics, their knowledge and views of ethics and ethical education, whether they had ever encountered an ethical problem, their beliefs about obtaining consent from pediatric patients and their f...

Diminished criminal responsibility: A multinational comparative review
This article reviews the legal frameworks of diminished criminal responsibility in eighteen civil law jurisdictions across the globe-Brazil, Chile, China, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Turkey. Specifically, it reports the legal standards and main features of partial responsibility, associated penalty reductions, and potential dispositions following a partial responsibility finding. It also surveys empirical data on the prevalence of diminished responsibility as compared to criminal nonresponsibility. This article, wh...

Assessing heavy metal levels in pediatric enteral nutrition formulas available in the Turkish market: Implications for consumer health
In this study, we assessed the levels of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), and inorganic arsenic (iAs) in 27 pediatric enteral nutrition (EN) formulas from five international brands available in the Turkish market. Analysis was conducted using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risk assessment was performed using hazard quotient (HQ), hazard index (HI), carcinogenic risk (CR), Toxicological contribution % of Provisional Tolerable Weekly Intake (PTWI) models. Our objective was to evaluate heavy metal exposure in EN formulas, specifically focusing on Cd, Pb, iAs, and...
