Trends in non-Hodgkin lymphoma mortality rate in Japan and the United States: A population-based study
Cancer Sci. 2023 Aug 18. doi: 10.1111/cas.15926. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCharacterizing trends in mortality rates with consideration of trends in incidence rates at the population level could help identify unmet needs in public health and provide essential indicators of cancer control. In the late 20th century, the arrival of the first molecular targeted agent, rituximab, for non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) led to a paradigm shift in NHL treatment. However, the public health impact of this arrival has not been fully clarified. Here, we evaluated trends in the mortality and incidence rates of NHL in Japan and the United St...

B-cell prolymphocytic leukemia with P53 abnormalities successfully treated with bendamustine and rituximab: a report of three cases
CONCLUSIONS: This case series suggests that BR regimen is promising for bringing deep remission to patients with B-PLL. Prospective trials are still required for further elucidation.PMID:37588745 | PMC:PMC10425637 | DOI:10.21037/tcr-23-828

On the Precipice of a "Rituximab-Like" Era for T-cell Lymphomas?
Clin Cancer Res. 2023 Aug 15:CCR-23-1571. doi: 10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-1571. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTo date monoclonal antibodies have had limited success in improving outcomes for patients with T-cell lymphomas. Preclinical data suggests that anti-T-cell Receptor Vβ-segment monoclonal antibodies are a novel therapeutic strategy for patients with T-cell lymphomas that avoid several limitations of current therapies.PMID:37581573 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-1571

Real-World Data of Adherence and Drug Survival of Biologics in Treatment-Na ïve and Treatment-experienced Adult Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis
CONCLUSION: Treatment choice primarily depends on disease activity and prognosis. Real-world data, showing differences in drug survival of bDMARDs and tsDMARD, can also be used in the variety of considerations when choosing treatment. Future studies could separate patients with RA into subgroups, which would also account for potential drug survival differences and enable personalized therapy.PMID:37566157 | DOI:10.1007/s12325-023-02607-w

Helicobacter pylori-negative mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma of the stomach : A clinicopathologic analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of HP-negative MALT lymphoma is increasing, and in our practice, it is currently more common than HP-associated MALT lymphomas. The pathophysiology of HP-negative MALT lymphoma without chronic gastritis remains unclear. Follow-up data in our study suggest that the prognosis of these cases is excellent despite varied management modalities.PMID:37556379 | DOI:10.1093/ajcp/aqad088

IgG4 Disease-Related Ataxia
We describe a male patient presenting with cerebellar ataxia and behavioural frontotemporal dementia in whom imaging showed cerebellar atrophy. He had significantly low N-acetyl aspartate to creatine (NAA/Cr) area ratio on MR spectroscopy of the cerebellum, primarily affecting the vermis. CT body scan showed extensive abnormal tissue within the mesentery, the retroperitoneum and perinephric areas. PET-CT showed increased tracer uptake within the wall of the aorta suggestive of an aortitis and within the perinephric tissue bilaterally. Biopsy of the perinephric tissue confirmed IgG4 disease. Treatment with steroids and myco...

Composite B-cell and T-cell lymphomas: clinical, pathological, and molecular features of three cases and literature review
J Zhejiang Univ Sci B. 2023 Aug 15;24(8):711-722. doi: 10.1631/jzus.B2300181.ABSTRACTComposite lymphoma (CL) involving B-cell lymphoma and T-cell lymphoma is extremely rare. Herein, we report three such cases using immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and the next-generation sequencing (NGS) to identify the pathological and molecular characteristics of CL. In the first case, the patient was admitted to hospital for generalized pruritic maculopapular rash over the whole body. An excisional biopsy of the skin lesions showed T-cell lymphoma. At the same time, the staging bone marrow (BM) biopsy revealed a diffuse large B-cel...
