Outpatient and "Admission-Substituting" Interventions in Vascular Surgery - What is Feasible and Where are the Limits? Previous and New Legal Requirements and their Implementation in Practice
CONCLUSION: The potential to transform inpatient services into the outpatient setting of service provision is realisable in vascular surgery in the core areas of varicose vein surgery, shunt surgery and peripheral interventional procedures under specific conditions.PMID:37562434 | DOI:10.1055/a-2100-1458

Herpes zoster reactivation after mRNA and adenovirus-vectored coronavirus disease 2019 vaccination: Analysis of National Health Insurance Database
CONCLUSIONS: mRNA COVID-19 vaccination possibly increases the risk of herpes zoster reactivation, and thus close follow-up for herpes zoster reactivation is required.PMID:37549237 | DOI:10.1093/infdis/jiad297

The effects of hospice care on healthcare expenditure among cancer patients
CONCLUSION: Healthcare expenditure was reduced among those cancer patients in South Korea who used hospice care compared with among those who did not. This emphasizes the importance of using hospice care and encourages those hesitant to use hospice care. The results provide useful insights into both official policy and the existing practices of healthcare systems.PMID:37550691 | DOI:10.1186/s12913-023-09578-2

Temporal Trend of the Incidence and Characteristics of Renal Infarction: Korean Nationwide Population Study
CONCLUSION: Considering the progressively increasing incidence of RI and high prevalence of coexisting risk factors, constant efforts to raise awareness of the disease are necessary. The current epidemiologic investigation of RI would be the stepping-stone to establishing future studies about clinical outcomes and optimal treatment strategies.PMID:37550807 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2023.38.e239

Dapagliflozin protects against doxorubicin-induced nephrotoxicity associated with nitric oxide pathway-A translational study
Free Radic Biol Med. 2023 Aug 5:S0891-5849(23)00585-3. doi: 10.1016/j.freeradbiomed.2023.08.013. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDoxorubicin (Dox) is a potent anticancer agent, but its associated organ toxicity, including nephrotoxicity, restricts clinical applications. Dapagliflozin (DAPA), a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor, has been shown to slow the progression of kidney disease in patients with and without diabetes. However, the effect of DAPA to counteract Dox-induced nephrotoxicity remains uncertain. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to elucidate the effects of DAPA in mitigating Dox-induced nephrotoxicity.
