How new clinical roles in primary care impact on equitable distribution of workforce: a retrospective study
CONCLUSION: Between 2019 and 2022 the distribution of administrative staff became less pro-poor, and doctors-in-training became pro-poor. The changes in inequality in all other staff groups were mixed. The introduction of PCNs has not substantially changed the longstanding inequalities in the geographical distribution of the primary care workforce.PMID:37604700 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2023.0007

Thriving in the face of youth unemployment: The role of personal and social resources
AbstractExtensive research indicated that unemployment has detrimental impacts upon psychological well-being of young individuals. Nevertheless, psychological well-being of unemployed college graduates remained unexamined in the existing literature. The current study sought to investigate the direct and indirect roles of self, social, and work resources on the mental health of unemployed college graduates (N = 291). Occupational Stress of Long Covid Rehabilitants and Return to Work After Pneumological Rehabilitation
CONCLUSION: The majority of rehabilitation patients are gainfully employed six months after pneumological rehabilitation, although persistent symptoms and a reduced ability to work are also reported even after rehabilitation. In the rehabilitation of employed persons, work-related elements, for example clarification of work-related questions and preparation for occupational demands (e. g. concentration, stress, physical demands), could support a sustained return to work.PMID:37595619 | DOI:10.1055/a-2105-5810

Socioeconomic differences in children's victimization to maternal and paternal violence: a register-based study
CONCLUSIONS: All indicators of low SEP increased the risk of children experiencing both maternal and paternal physical violence, especially at ages 3-8 years. Longitudinal register data-because of large samples, no nonresponse or self-report bias, and the possibility to analyze violence committed by mother and father and age-groups separately-have great potential for comprehensive research on the risk factors of parental violence that are difficult to reliably assess with other types of data.PMID:37589283 | DOI:10.1177/14034948231180670

An Epidemiological Study of Lung Cancer and Selected Other Cancers among Namibian Uranium Workers
This study faced considerable challenges with respect to case ascertainment, exposure estimates, and ensuring accuracy of key variables. Persuasive consistent evidence for elevated cancer risk was not found for radiation or other exposures studied at the Rössing uranium mine.PMID:37590489 | DOI:10.1667/RADE-23-00051.1
