Renal outcomes in older adults with antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody-associated vasculitis: a new prediction model
CONCLUSION: We established a risk-scoring system based on baseline clinical characteristics to predict composite renal outcomes in patients with AAV. Our results suggest that more attention should be paid to older patients with severe renal impairment and active inflammation.PMID:37708862 | DOI:10.1159/000533512

Development and validation of AI-based triage support algorithms for prevention of intradialytic hypotension
CONCLUSIONS: Recurrent symptomatic intradialytic hypotension could be reliably and accurately predicted using routinely collected data during dialysis treatment and standard clinical care. Clinical application of these prediction models would allow for personalized risk-based interventions for preventing and managing intradialytic hypotension.PMID:37707692 | DOI:10.1007/s40620-023-01741-6

Biobased chitosan-derived self-nitrogen-doped porous carbon nanofibers containing nitrogen-doped zeolites for efficient removal of uremic toxins during hemodialysis
This study provides a novel strategy for transforming chitosan-based materials into state-of-the-art porous carbon nanofiber/zeolite self-N-doped composites, affording an efficient bioderived adsorbent for the removal of uremic toxins in patients with chronic kidney disease.PMID:37709226 | DOI:10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.126880

Activated carbon derived from wood biochar for Amperometric sensing of Ammonia for early screening of chronic kidney disease
In this study, we have elucidated the functionality and usefulness of a wearable microelectronic research prototype integrated with an HTC-activated carbon @RTIL-based electrochemical sensing platform for detecting ammonia levels released from the skin as a marker for chronic kidney disease screening. By enabling early detection and monitoring, these platforms can facilitate timely interventions, such as lifestyle modifications, medication adjustments, or referral to nephrology specialists. This proactive approach can potentially slow down disease progression, minimize the need for dialysis or transplantation, and ultimate...

Postbiotic as Novel Alternative Agent or Adjuvant for the Common Antibiotic Utilized in the Food Industry
CONCLUSION: Postbiotic constituents may be a new approach for utilization in the pharmaceutical and food sectors for developing therapeutic treatments. Further metabolomics investigations are required to describe novel postbiotics and clinical trials are also required to define the sufficient dose and optimum administration frequency of postbiotics.PMID:37702234 | DOI:10.2174/1389201025666230912123849
