Identification of Potential Therapeutic Targets for Myopic Choroidal Neovascularization via Discovery-Driven Data Mining
CONCLUSIONS: This study provides new potential therapeutic targets for mCNV, including IL6, FGF2, MMP9, IL10, TNF, MMP2, HGF, MMP3, IGF1, CCL2, CTNNB1, BDNF, NGF, and EDN1, which correspond to seven potential enriched pathways. These findings provide a basis for further research and offer new possibilities for developing therapeutic interventions for this condition.PMID:37610842 | DOI:10.1080/02713683.2023.2252201

PSMD3 gene mutations cause pathological myopia
Conclusions A new potential pathogenic gene, PSMD3, in a PM family was identified, and it may be involved in the elongation of AL and the development of PM.

Macula structural and vascular differences in glaucoma eyes with and without high axial myopia
Conclusions As thinner GCIPL and GCC were associated with increasing severity of glaucoma but were not significantly associated with AL, they may be useful for monitoring glaucoma in highly myopic eyes.

Predictors of myopic macular degeneration in a 12-year longitudinal study of Singapore adults with myopia
Conclusions In adults with myopia without MMD, tessellated fundus, age, SE and AL had good predictive value for incident MMD. In adults with MMD, 1 in 10 eyes experienced progression over the same period. Older age, more severe myopia and longer AL were independent risk factors for progression.

Associations between meeting 24-hour movement guidelines and myopia among school-aged children: A cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggest that adhering to SLP, ST + SLP, and ST + SLP + PA guidelines is associated with the risk of myopia. Future research investigating dose-response associations, and potential mechanisms, is necessary to achieve a more nuanced understanding of the observed associations.PMID:37595358 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctcp.2023.101792

Effects of riboflavin/ultraviolet-A(UVA) scleral crosslinking on the mechanical behavior of the scleral fibroblasts of lens-induced myopia Guinea pigs
Exp Eye Res. 2023 Aug 16:109618. doi: 10.1016/j.exer.2023.109618. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMyopia is becoming increasingly severe, and studies have shown that the cellular mechanics of scleral fibroblasts are altered following myopia. Scleral UVA-Riboflavin Collagen Crosslinking(sCXL) is a promising treatment for myopia prevention and control of axial growth. Understanding the mechanical properties of scleral fibroblasts is crucial, as it influences the cellular response and limits the extent of molecular deformation triggered. Thus, our study aimed to investigate the effect of mechanical properties of scleral fib...
