7 Diagnosis And Tests For Low Blood Pressure: A Comprehensive Guide
Conclusion Accurate assessment and recognition of low blood pressure are crucial for effective management. Diagnostic techniques, including medical history assessment, physical examination, ECG, blood tests, Holter monitor, tilt table test, stress test, and imaging tests, help identify underlying causes, assess severity, and rule out complications. Smart blood pressure monitors connected to mobile devices have revolutionized diagnosis and monitoring. These devices provide instant, accurate readings for real-time tracking and analysis. Taking part in a study
I have tried over recent years to become a more regular blood donor.  So, I signed up for a study of the experience.   Would naming it here cause any sort of bias?   Don ' t know, but in case, I won ' t name it.  It does have a record in ISRCTN, which you can look for.  One of the investigators was the lead in another study, which I also won ' t name, but I was invited to join it.  It has a record in ISRCTN, which you can look for, and in which I can see that I am in Phase 3.  Phase 2 was to test the feasibility of the study design.  This second stu...

Fight Aging! Newsletter, June 12th 2023
In this study, we investigated the effect of NXP032 on neurovascular stabilization through the changes of PECAM-1, PDGFR-β, ZO-1, laminin, and glial cells involved in maintaining the integrity of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in aged mice. NXP032 was orally administered daily for 8 weeks. Compared to young mice and NXP032-treated mice, 20-month-old mice displayed cognitive impairments in Y-maze and passive avoidance tests. NXP032 treatment contributed to reducing the BBB damage by attenuating the fragmentation of microvessels and reducing PDGFR-β, ZO-1, and laminin expression, thereby mitigating astrocytes and microglia ...

Looking Back at the Growth and Maturation of the Field of Aging Research
A great deal has changed in these last few decades in the field of aging research. From the 60s onward to the 90s, aging research was increasingly characterized by a philosophy of "look but don't touch", an effort to distance academia from the growing anti-aging industry and its hype. It made itself a backwater science in which talk of intervention was aggressively discouraged by leaders in the field. Starting in the 90s, with studies showing significant life extension in lower animals following single gene mutations, it became impossible to ignore the potential to treat aging as a medical condition in humans. Nonet...

The First Amendment Protects Against Bad ‐Faith Prosecutions
Thomas A. BerryIn 2020, Netflix began streaming the French filmCuties. The film follows an 11 ‐year‐old Senegalese immigrant, Amy, torn between her family’s conservative culture and a more progressive French society. In the film, Amy is shown joining a pre‐teen dance group (the “Cuties”), whose sexualized routines are heavily influenced by social media. The film’s me ssage is critical of the influence of social media on young girls, but the film itself attracted significant controversy for its scenes depicting the dance group’s provocative performances. There is room for reasonable debate as to wh...

The Role of Automation in Alleviating Staffing Shortages
The following is a guest article by Eric Demers, CEO at Madaket Health The recent CWH Advisors’ 2022 Patient Pay study unearthed some troubling trends in the administration of RCM. The dearth of healthcare professionals impacting the entire healthcare industry is only adding fuel to the fire. 63% of respondents indicated that they were experiencing RCM staffing shortages, contributing to slower revenue cycles and affecting both patients and payers.  With a steady decrease in overall healthcare workers, the staffing shortages in revenue cycle departments are dire. A recent survey by Elsevier Health predicts that up to 75...

The power of being present
I’ve been listening to Prof Kevin Vowles recently, as he presents his approach to pain using ACT. He made an important point about mindfulness that resonated with me: it’s that when learning to be fully present, it’s not how long we stray from our point of focus, nor even how many times we come back, the learning is that we can come back. Again and again and again. There are arguments about what mindfulness is, and I’m certain these will continue, but for the purposes of this post and for people just learning mindfulness, I’m defining it as the deliberate practice of attending to a focus (t...

eClinicalWorks Goes from 0 to 60 with AI Throughout Their Product
We’ve only seen a few times where something has dramatically changed the EHR product roadmap.  The first time this happened was when the HITECH act and associated $36 billion of stimulus money was included to stimulate adoption of EHR software.  In order to get access to that stimulus money, you had to use a certified EHR.  If you were an EHR company at this time, you quickly realized that you weren’t going to make any sales if you weren’t certified.  As such, the EHR product roadmap changed to ensure that you could meet the EHR certification and meaningful use requirements.  In fact, one could argue...
