Emergence of Marburg virus: a global perspective on fatal outbreaks and clinical challenges
The Marburg virus (MV), identified in 1967, has caused deadly outbreaks worldwide, the mortality rate of Marburg virus disease (MVD) varies depending on the outbreak and virus strain, but the average case fatality rate is around 50%. However, case fatality rates have varied from 24 to 88% in past outbreaks depending on virus strain and case management. Designated a priority pathogen by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), MV induces hemorrhagic fever, organ failure, and coagulation issues in both humans and non-human primates. This review presents an extensive exploration of MVD outbreak evolu...

Clinical Medicine and Climate Change
The health care system contributes substantially to global greenhouse gas emissions, a driver of climate change. At the same time, climate change has caused disruptions in health care delivery. In this article, the authors describe both how the health care industry contributes to climate change and how climate change affects patient care. The authors also provide clinical recommendations for health care practitioners to counsel patients on health effects of climate change and underscore the need for developing the workforce needed to respond to unique health care delivery challenges resulting from climate-related factors.

Multi-population genome-wide association meta-analysis in pediatric steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome
Steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS) is the most common glomerular disease in children. The exact mechanisms underlying pediatric SSNS (pSSNS) remain elusive and may be heterogeneous. Nevertheless, numerous observations implicate immune dysregulation, including the triggering of flares by allergy or infections, the response to steroids/immunosuppressants, the immediate post-transplant recurrence in some cases, the unique description of remission of post-transplant nephrotic syndrome (NS) after kidney graft explantation followed by retransplantation to a non-nephrotic recipient, and abnormalities in T and B lymphocyte function.
