The Impact of CD34 < sup > + < /sup > Cell Collection Yields for Autologous Transplant on Survival Outcomes in Multiple Myeloma
CONCLUSION: Although bortezomib is not considered stem-cell toxic, it may be associated with lower stem cell collection yields. Bortezomib's efficacy at induction may partially explain the improved outcomes, however, other factors may be involved, and are discussed. We can conclude that with our large cohort and long follow-up, high stem-cell mobilization does not appear to predict for a long-term survival advantage.PMID:37689547 | DOI:10.1016/j.clml.2023.07.014

Conferone, a coumarin from < em > Ferula flabelliloba < /em > , induced toxic effects on adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma cells
CONCLUSION: Obtained findings indicated that conferone induced considerable cytotoxic effects on MT-2 cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner. In addition, accumulation of cells in the sub-G1 phase of the cell cycle was detected upon conferone administration. Moreover, conferone reduced the expression of CDK6, c-MYC, CFLIPL, and NF-κB (Rel-A) in MT-2 cells. Accordingly, conferone could be considered as a potent agent against ATL, although complementary investigations are required to define more precisely its mechanism of action.PMID:37688389 | PMC:PMC10493046 | DOI:10.1177/03946320231197592

Nine-year Follow-up of Lenalidomide Plus Rituximab as Initial Treatment for Mantle Cell Lymphoma
We report 9-year follow up of a multi-center phase 2 study of lenalidomide plus rituximab (LR) as initial treatment of MCL. The LR doublet is used as induction and maintenance until progression, with optional discontinuation after 3 years. We previously reported an overall response rate in evaluable patients of 92%, with 64% achieving a complete response. At a median follow up of 103 months, 17 (47%) of 36 evaluable patients remain in remission. The 9-year progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were 51% and 66%, respectively. During maintenance, hematologic adverse events (AEs) included asymptomatic grad...

Guilingji capsule for Alzheimer's disease: secondary analysis of a randomized non-inferiority controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: GLJC is equivalent to the gingko extract tablets in terms of improving cognitive function and the quality of life in AD patients with KMDP and has good clinical efficacy and safety. When it comes to improving TCM symptoms and anti-aging, GLJC is even more advantageous.PMID:37679990 | PMC:PMC10465832 | DOI:10.19852/j.cnki.jtcm.20230404.006

Endoscopic Ultrasonography-Guided Fine-Needle Aspiration for Duodenal Subepithelial Lesions Showing a Hypoechoic Mass on Endoscopic Ultrasound Imaging
CONCLUSIONS: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration for duodenal subepithelial lesions with hypoechoic mass was safe and accurate. As duodenal subepithelial lesion with hypoechoic mass has a reasonably high possibility of containing malignant tumors, it is desirable to perform endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration.PMID:37681269 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2023.22696

Loss of CD34 < sup > + < /sup > Cells and Effect of the Number of Viable Cryopreserved CD34 < sup > + < /sup > Cells in the Infused Blood Grafts on Hematologic Recovery, Progression-Free Survival and Overall Survival in NHL Patients After Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation
CONCLUSIONS: G-CSF type used in mobilization and mobilization capacity were found to correlate with viable CD34+ cell loss during processing and storage. Most importantly, low infused viable CD34+ cell count did not seem to impact on PFS or OS.PMID:37684185 | DOI:10.1016/j.clml.2023.08.009

A Meta-Analysis of the Efficacy of Pomalidomide-Based Regimens for the Treatment of Relapsed/Refractory Multiple Myeloma After Lenalidomide Exposure
CONCLUSION: Pomalidomide-based combination regimens were effective in patients with RRMM previously treated with lenalidomide and tended to be associated with better outcomes when used earlier in the treatment pathway. A drug class switch may not always be necessary when making treatment decisions for patients with RRMM for whom the benefits of lenalidomide have been exhausted, although this must be supported by comparative studies.PMID:37684184 | DOI:10.1016/j.clml.2023.07.010
