Role of non- < em > Helicobacter pylori < /em > gastric Helicobacters in < em > helicobacter pylori < /em > -negative gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma
World J Gastroenterol. 2023 Aug 28;29(32):4851-4859. doi: 10.3748/wjg.v29.i32.4851.ABSTRACTMarginal zone lymphomas rank as the third most prevalent form of non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphoma, trailing behind diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and follicular lymphoma. Gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (GML) is a low-grade B-cell neoplasia frequently correlated with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-induced chronic gastritis. On the other hand, a specific subset of individuals diagnosed with GML does not exhibit H. pylori infection. In contrast to its H. pylori-positive counterpart, it was previously believed that H. pylo...

Leukemic-phase mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma
Int J Hematol. 2023 Sep 12. doi: 10.1007/s12185-023-03654-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 78-year-old man presenting with leukocytosis was admitted to our hospital. The patient was asymptomatic and showed no lymphadenopathy. Peripheral blood flow cytometry revealed a leukemic-phase B-cell lymphoma with medium-to-large abnormal cells with reticulum. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography revealed abnormal uptake in the right orbit, bone marrow, and spleen. We performed immunological staining and fluorescence in situ hybridization on tissues extracted from the right orbit and bone marrow, which led to the diagno...

Polyomavirus-associated Disseminated T-cell Lymphoma in a Colony of Zebra Finches (Taeniopygia guttata)
Comp Med. 2023 Sep 11. doi: 10.30802/AALAS-CM-23-000011. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFour zebra finches in a closed research colony presented with variable clinical signs, including masses, skin lesions, shivering, and/or ruffled feathers. These birds were not responsive to treatment efforts; 3 died and one was euthanized. All4 were submitted for necropsy to determine the cause of the clinical signs. Gross necropsy and histopathologic findings fromall birds resulted in a diagnosis of round cell neoplasia in multiple organs, including the skin, liver, kidney, and reproductivetract, with intranuclear inclusion bodies in the...

Think Outside the Heart: An Unusual Cause of Large Hemopericardium
We describe a 66-year-old male found to have a large bloody pericardial effusion causing tamponade physiology, and multimodality imaging was consistent with intrapericardial malignancy with no identifiable primary source. He was subsequently diagnosed with type B3 thymoma after mediastinal resection.PMID:37694169 | PMC:PMC10487124 | DOI:10.14797/mdcvj.1276

The link between psoriasis and other diseases based on epidemiological and genetic analyses
Postepy Dermatol Alergol. 2023 Aug;40(4):496-503. doi: 10.5114/ada.2023.130518. Epub 2023 Sep 1.ABSTRACTPsoriasis is a chronic disease, which is associated with numerous genetic and environmental factors. The high prevalence of psoriasis worldwide (2-3% of the general population) and its various comorbidities lead to research on its pathogenesis. The aim of this article is to describe the current state of knowledge on the potential links between psoriasis and other diseases, such as inflammatory bowel diseases, uveitis, arthritis, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis, fatty liver disease, dy...

Diversity of intratumoral regulatory T cells in B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma
This study demonstrates that Tregs infiltrating NHL tumors are transcriptionally and functionally diverse. Highly immunosuppressive activated Tregs were enriched in tumor tissue but absent in peripheral blood. Our data suggest that a deeper understanding of Treg heterogeneity in B-NHL could open new paths for rational drug design, facilitating selective targeting to improve anti-tumor immunity.PMID:37695745 | DOI:10.1182/bloodadvances.2023010158

A Case Presenting with Neck Pain and High Sedimentation Rate: Amyloid Goiter
CONCLUSION: Amyloid accumulation should be considered in addition to anaplastic thyroid cancer and lymphoma in patients with sudden thyroid enlargement. It should not be overlooked that amyloid goiter may mimic subacute thyroiditis clinic. Systemic amyloidosis should be considered in patients with amyloid goiter, and an examination should be made to assess the presence of amyloid accumulations in other organs.PMID:37691220 | DOI:10.2174/1871530323666230907093422

Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia-like B cell lymphoma with MYD88 L265P mutation and t(14;18)(q32;q21) involving IGH < em > - < /em > MALT1
Leuk Res Rep. 2023 Aug 28;20:100389. doi: 10.1016/j.lrr.2023.100389. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTA 65-year-old woman was referred to the hospital for further investigation of weight loss, hyperproteinemia, and anemia. Serum immunofixation electrophoresis revealed IgM-κ M protein. Bone marrow examination revealed an increase in the number of B -cells with immunoglobulin kappa light-chain restriction. Although the MYD88 L265P mutation was identified in bone marrow mononuclear cells, which suggested the diagnosis of Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM), a fusion signal of IgH-MALT1, which is commonly observed in extranodal marg...

slan+ monocytes kill cancer cells coated in therapeutic antibody by trogoptosis
Cancer Immunol Res. 2023 Sep 11. doi: 10.1158/2326-6066.CIR-23-0239. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMonocytes positive for 6-Sulfo LacNAc (slan) are a major subset of non-classical CD14dimCD16+ monocytes in humans. We have shown that slan+ cells infiltrate lymphomas and elicit an antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) of neoplastic B cells mediated by the anti-CD20 therapeutic Rituximab. Herein, by performing blocking experiments and flow cytometry analyses, as well as confocal microscopy and live-cell imaging assays, we extended the findings to other humanized antibodies and deciphered the underlying effector mech...
